10. Catwoman

Dressed in skin-tight black leather, the enigmatic Catwoman - originally called "The Cat" - made her debut in 1940 in Batman #1 - the very first issue of the DC Comic. But her love-hate relationship with Batman throughout the years has made her more of an anti-hero than a true villain.

Catwoman's alter-ego is Selina Kyle, and her origins have changed virtually more times than the number of women who have portrayed her. From surviving a plane crash and getting amnesia to falling out a window and having new life breathed into her via a group of alley cats.

She was portrayed in the original Batman TV series by Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt and by Lee Meriwether in the 1966 Batman movie.

Michelle Pfeiffer took on the role for Burton's Batman Returns in 1992.

Halle Berry played her in the 2004 flop Catwoman - which wasn't based on the Batman character (so she doesn't really count); and Hathaway will play the foxy feline in TDKR.
