Tony Bennett Releasing Amy Winehouse Duet For Charity
Veteran crooner Tony Bennett is releasing his new duet with tragic Amy Winehouse to help fund a charity in the singer's memory.
Bennett, who worked with the late star on a track for his upcoming record Duets II in March, was left devastated by Winehouse's sudden passing last month.
Upon hearing about her death, he said, "She was an extraordinary musician with a rare intuition as a vocalist... when we recorded together she gave a soulful and extraordinary performance. I was honored to have the opportunity to sing with her."
After her funeral, the Rehab hit-maker's dad, Mitch Winehouse, moved forward with plans to create the Amy Winehouse Foundation to provide help and support to those with ongoing addictions.
Mitch recently asked members of the British Parliament to assist the charity financially, but it appears now he'll be getting an influx of cash, courtesy of Bennett - the legendary singer has decided to donate all the royalties from his duet with Winehouse to the organization in her memory.
During an appearance on Today on Tuesday, Bennett said, "What's going to happen is we're putting that (duet) out ahead of the album and it's going to (benefit) a foundation that her father started to teach all the young children not to take drugs. And all the royalties of the record are going to go to that."
It is not yet known when the single, Body And Soul, will be released.
