They Might Be Giants can write a song about anything -- just dare them! The new "Venue Songs" DVD started out as a way to pass the time on a tour bus. Instead of playing more cards or watching another Dave Chappelle rerun, They Might Be Giants challenged themselves to write an original song for every rock club they would be performing in: write it on the bus, rehearse it at sound check, and debut the song to the audience that night. As the tour rolled on, the effort seemed more than a little misguided--possibly disastrous--but happily the experiment paid off. The songs were consistently interesting, and the best of them were very fine indeed. The audience response was one of pure delight. A document had to be made. Returning home to Brooklyn, TMBG recorded the best of the songs. TMBG also collaborated with a small but determined army of highly creative visual artists to create videos for the songs. The Venue Songs DVD was born.

Over half a million people download TMBG monthly podcasts. Since the beginning of 2006, They Might be Giants has been releasing a free monthly podcast via and iTunes. Each podcast includes multiple new recordings of exclusive songs, along with fascinating nuggets from TMBG's extensive vaults. Like They Might be Giants legendary "Dial-A-Song" service, these highly entertaining podcasts spotlight the band's prodigious song output, and freewheeling approach to music distribution. The response has been staggering. With an estimated 500,000 downloads per month and climbing rapidly, the TMBG's monthly podcasts have consistently rated in iTunes top 100 podcasts overall, and have enjoyed many days at #1 on the music chart. Their next CD is due in early 2007 and is being produced by the Dust Brothers!

In addition to podcasts writing songs about anything They Might Be Giants perform the theme and create all the incidental music for Comedy Central's hit "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart;" and they also penned the theme song for the Fox hit "Malcolm in the Middle."
