The first trailer for "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug" is out, and the second film in Peter Jackson's trilogy looks like it's set to deliver on the action. There's also a good shot of the dragon's head, but unfortunately we've yet to hear it talk with the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch. There's also a few clips of the only female in the film, Evangeline Lilly, who plays the elf warrior Tauriel. Die-hard fans may not like her though, because she wasn't in the book. Nor was evil Orc chief Azog but for more than a mention by the wizard Gandalf. (story)

There are only four singers left on The Voice, with mentor Blake Shelton in good position to win it all for the third straight season. Shelton's acts Danielle Bradbery and The Swon Brothers are still alive, while the final contestant, Michelle Chamuel, belongs to mentor Usher. Shakira and Adam Levine have been eliminated from the competition, giving Blake a 67% chance of a threepeat. (recap)

2 Chainz was at the center of conflicting police reports over an incident in San Francisco on Sunday, when the rapper and his 14-strong entourage were reportedly robbed by three armed assailants. Shots were reportedly fired, but 2 Chainz said there was no robbery and he later tweeted that he and his crew were just smoking some pot before a scheduled show at a festival in Oakland later that day. Perhaps that tipped off cops in Los Angeles, where he was arrested for felony drug possession on Tuesday for trying to take marijuana and prescription-only promethazine onto a flight. (story)

Bass player Ted Dwayne, of British folk-rockers Mumford & Sons, was hospitalized on Monday after doctors found a blood clot on his brain. Doctors said that he'll require surgery and the band has since canceled their remaining tour dates for the week. No further shows will be canceled or postponed. (story)

The end of the world promises to be lots of fun -- if it plays out like Seth Rogen's new stoner comedy "This Is the End."
