C'mon, admit it. It's been years since you've heard a band that didn't sound like every other band on the planet. In this dark era of musical history, rife with empty hype where homogeneity rules and individuality is highly discouraged, we have a group for you-- a quartet from Dallas who call themselves The Hourly Radio.

It came clear to all present at recent shows in New York at the Annex and Bowery Ballroom (supporting Stellastarr*) and a run of dates in the United Kingdom, that this band has something special. Perhaps it's something in Aaron Closson's yearning high tenor and sincere lyrics. Or something specific in the distinctive timbre of Ryan Short's guitar, at once, channeling Johnny Marr and Thurston Moore. Then there's the locked and loaded rhythm section of drummer Adam Vanderkolk and bassist Tim Jansen. Whatever it is, an undeniable and unique chemistry is palpable.

You could hear it on the band's first output, an EP entitled Lure Of The Underground, self-released in January 2005, supported by sold out hometown shows prompting much bloggin' and subsequent dates with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and the aforementioned stellastarr*.

The Hourly Radio released their debut LP, History Will Never Hold Me on Kirtland Records to the digital audience on June 27th and in stores on September 5th. The new record includes 11 exercises in angst level love frustration, riddance to ex-girls, self-testimony in the wake of adversity -- all of it art, all of it in their unique voice.
