Multi-platinum Australian artists The Cat Empire have just signed to Velour Music Group -- the burgeoning NY-based independent label that's home to artists including Sonya Kitchell and Kaki King. The band will release a limited edition EP this fall, followed by their American debut full-length, Two Shoes, early next year.

The Cat Empire are: Felix Riebl (vocals, chariotti, percussion); Harry James Angus (vocals, trumpet); Oliver McGill (piano, keyboards, backing vocals); Will Hull-Brown (drums); Jamshid Khadiwala (turntable, clave); Ryan Monro (bass, backing vocals). Already a double-platinum smash back home, Two Shoes was recorded in the famed Estudio Egrem in Havana, Cuba and was produced by Jerry Boys, known for his work with Buena Vista Social Club.

Coinciding with the EP release, The Cat Empire will bring their brand of genre-bending, roof-raising beats stateside for a headlining tour. Kicking off on September 28 in Washington, D.C., The Cat Empire's tour includes a special two night stand New York City, where the band will headline the final dates of the world-famous (and NYC's first-ever) SPIEGELTENT, an iconic 1930's design circus tent crafted from teak, beveled mirrors, canvas, and fabrics.
