Taking Back Sunday announced today that the band will perform a string of headlining dates for Boost Mobile RockCorps (BMRC), a national youth volunteerism movement that harnesses the power of music to motivate young people to get involved in their communities. The upcoming concerts, which are free to anyone volunteering four hours of community service to BMRC projects, expands on a partnership between the band and BMRC that began when the New York-based quintet performed to 5,000 enthusiastic volunteers at last year's BMRC season wrap concert at Radio City Music Hall.

"Communities are like gardens," notes lead singer Adam Lazzara when asked why they chose to get involved with BMRC. "Without upkeep and care, without maintenance, it is impossible for them to grow, to produce anything of value. By offering an incentive, Boost Mobile RockCorps is teaching this valuable lesson to our nation's youth – in whose able hands our community's futures lie. We are honored to have the opportunity to take part -- BMRC rules."

Taking Back Sunday's BMRC dates come on the heels of a non-stop year for the band, whose most recent release, Louder Now, skyrocketed to Number Two on Billboard's Top 200 chart a week after its April 23, 2006, release, scanning more than 157,000 units. Now gold-certified, the album has spawned two blockbuster Modern Rock hit singles, "MakeDamnSure" and "Liar (It Takes One To Know One)," led to three sold-out tours and a MTV Video Music Award nomination (The MTV2 Viewer's Choice award) for "MakeDamnSure." The album was voted "Album Of The Year" (2006) by Kerrang! The band has sold 2.5 million records worldwide, with Louder Now marking their third consecutive gold album.

Now in its third year, Boost Mobile RockCorps' program is simple yet effective: young people donate four hours of volunteer service to a BMRC-related project, and in exchange they earn a ticket to attend a high-profile concert in their city. Since 2005, BMRC has directly inspired more than 19,000 young people to volunteer in their community, working on a wide range of service projects including school and playground renovation, park preservation, food distribution and more. Other artists who have performed at past BMRC shows include Korn, Kanye West, Panic! at the Disco, Fat Joe, Rise Against, Nas, Kelis, Young Jeezy, T.I., Paul Wall, Lil Jon, Big Boi, Fabolous, Nelly, Travis Barker, and others. Last year, BMRC's signature concert at Radio City Music Hall, which celebrated the efforts and accomplishments of this unprecedented nationwide initiative, was nationally televised on MTV2, as was a more recent concert for 3,000 volunteers at The Kodak theater in Los Angeles.

Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne will headline a BMRC concert at Atlanta's Fox theater on June 9. The BMRC revolution will visit several cities across the U.S. including: Los Angeles, Oakland, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Baltimore, Portland and New York. BMRC's final concert, wrapping up its third and most successful year ever, will take place at New York's Radio City Music Hall on October 6.

The additional BMRC tour stops promises more inspired youth activism in more communities around the country – and the effects of BMRC go well beyond the concerts. A recent comparison of BMRC and non-BMRC participants illustrates that close to 80% of BMRC volunteers are likely to volunteer again in the future - without a concert ticket/reward. Additionally, 73% of participants who attended the BMRC concert conveyed a sense of how powerful volunteer work can be. Music has the power to bring people together, and Boost Mobile RockCorps is channeling this power as a catalyst for making volunteering cool and relevant to today's youth.

Youth interested in becoming part of the Boost Mobile RockCorps movement can call BMRC at 1-888-ROCK-889, or log onto www.boostmobilerockcorps.com for more information and to register for membership. BMRC members will be notified of volunteer opportunities in their area.

Come to one of the many BMRC events and see youth activism in action!
