Spinster-turned-superstar Susan Boyle is thrilled to have been chosen to perform for the Pope when he visits her native Scotland next month.
Boyle, who shot to fame last year as a contestant on Britain's Got Talent, is set to belt out her hit I Dreamed A Dream for Pope Benedict XVI when he travels to Glasgow to celebrate mass. And the devout Catholic insists she is "honored" to be able to sing for the pontiff.
She says, "It is my greatest dream come true. To be able to sing for the Pope is a great honor and something I've always dreamed of. It's indescribable. I've always wanted to sing for His Holiness and I can't really put into words my happiness that this wish has come true at last."
"The Pope's visit is a very big event for Scottish Catholics. My own faith is the backbone of my life. I pray and say the rosary each day and am very close to my religion. I am humbled and honored by this invitation and I hope I can do my best."
Boyle will also sing the traditional hymn, How Great Thou Art, and a surprise song for the Pope and the congregation at Bellahouston Park on September 16th. Her performance will be beamed to more than seven billion viewers around the world.
