SO SO SO SO SO SO TRUE!
I have read the "Twilight" saga and I must say that it is one of the best reads I have picked up since middle school!
There really is something alluring about vampires. The darkness, the mystery, the HISTORY! These creatures have been rumored to be around for eons, given that most of them live forever. Of course something that was mentioned in our past could be cause for a concern in the present day.
This article is spot on! GO VAMPIRES! (AND GO EDWARD CULLEN! Can't wait for the movie!)

I'm rather obsessed with vampires too. They're mysterious and interesting. My favorite book is The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause and it's about a silver haired vampire. One of my favorite movies is Underworld, and I really want to read the Twilight series by Stepheni Meyer. The more I read vampire stories and see vampire movies, the more obsessed I am.

I love vampire shows, always have. It started with Dark Shadows, I would run home from the bus after school to see it. The power that they possess. The fact that they live forever, amass vast amounts of money. Live under the radar. Don't take crap from anyone. I wish that the Blade series would had made it, but they needed someone who could act to pull it off. The main character just plained sucked. I love all of Carpenter's movies. If I could be someone else it would be a vampire!

I also have read the Twilight Saga and I thought it was awesome. I am also on Team Edward, Jacob is just so immature, he just makes me want to gag. Of course, I think Bella isn't fair to either one of them. The only mature one is Edward, and he's been around for the last 80 odd years. I'm hooked though, I'm reading Twilight for the 2nd time around!

I love Twilights Vampires this is why, they do not bring with them the silly myths that honestly we all have seen way to many times Like sleeping in coffins or burning in the sun, turning into bats even the fangs are silly. Stephenie Meyers vampires just make more sense and still holds the magic we all love they are infallible beautiful and so fast they are a blur when they run and so strong they can pick up a van with one hand and toss it. There are only a few ways to kill them & no human can do that. It is very hard for them to be around humans without not needing to kill them and this makes the love story very interesting. The Cullens try to be good Vampires and hunt only animals. and YES they are immortal (I want to be in love and live forever).
There is war and good and bad vamps special powers and amazing gifts its such a interesting take on the world of Vampires I suggest everyone give it a try its very refreshing trust me.

I write speculative fiction novels and my bestsellers are my signature Reaper series--shapeshifting vampires. Readers can't get enough of these stories and I think one of the reasons is because the heroes are alpha males with a take-no-prisoner mentality. They're handsome, sexy, and powerful. They dress all in black, are tall, dark, and know how to use their bodies to get a female's attention. Even the male readers I have love them so it has to be the vampire persona that intrigues and captivates. Whatever it is, I hope it continues for a long, long time!
Too bad Moonlight was cancelled. CBS shot itself in the foot with that piece of illogical thinking but I highly suspect it's because they realize they have a rare gem in star Alex O'Loughlin and are looking for a way to cash in on his talent, looks, and popularity with female viewers--no matter their age.

Moonlight is gone for good only if the entertainment world/networks don't care about fans. Fans are the ones who purchase from their advertisers and purchase the DVD's of the series. Fans promote their network and their shows. Moonllight was the favorite hour of the week for millions of fans who are not going to give up on bringing it back. One fan site has gone over 4000 members from 37 countries just this week and growing every day. In the case of Moonlight, like Twilight, it is just plain romance and love that make them special in the world of fantasy. Moonlight developed a hot sensual love relationship done in a way that families could watch together - rare in this day and age. Just so sad that the best show on television in years goes unappreciated by the very people who brought it to us. We won't let it die.

Your article is very interesting. Fantasy is what many os us love in literature, TV and the movies because escaping from the hard work of reality is important for our rest, our entertainment and our sanity. We all need recharging. And the extra bonus of fantasy is that it allows us to let our imaginations go, with endless possibilities, without limitations.
Just a note: I feel it is important that you know Moonlight is not dead, because we fans are not leting it go. Moonlight connected the real and the fantasy world in a way that no other show or book I have seen or read has. And in doing that it trapped millions of us, in the US and internationally, in a web of emotion and understanding which we intend to keep alive.

Whats not to love about vampires. Its a well known fact that during difficult cultural times we often look for escapist entertainment to distract us from the pain.
Vampires today are sexy, powerful, sensual, animalistic, lovers, rich and dominate. What woman wouldn't be 'entertained' by watching them do their thing on TV.
My favourite two shows were Moonlight and Blood Ties. I highly recommend BT for anyone looking for a sex, romance and one hot vampire male.
In September I intend to get HBO for the first time just so I can watch True Blood. I can't wait after seeing the previews!

I wish the author had dug deeper in researching her story because Moonlight is not dead. And a question for the readers, why does it have to be a pissing contest between vampire shows? I like Buffy and Moonlight. And I intend to watch True Blood to see if it's any good. So, one does not need to put down one show in order to elevate another, it's childish and unnecessary. Go to www.moonlightline.com for yourselves and read about our continuing campaign for Moonlight returning in any shape or form.

Vampires have always been a genre that people can relate to; staying young and beautiful and being immortal. Stories of humans falling for vampires and vice versa are also appealing and have been successful through the ages. There is a sense of eroticism around the vampire myths and shows like Angel and the recent Moonlight reflect that. Moonlight, however, may not be dead just yet. Moonlight has millions of fans and the fans will not stop until this show is picked up.

Many speculate, but few know what it is really like to be a creature of the night. When the sun rises, the desire to sleep pulls on you like alcohol when you know you have a buzz and you can't stand the baking on your skin, it's like being a piece of roasting meat. But the night, it is alluring and makes you feel power & magical, it's safety and your invisible in a blink with one swift move and a leap into the night air. Exotic and bedroom eyed it is your tool to entice your pray, to feed is vital, it's your only survival. Only under a hypnotic spell shall someone be forced to know you, you are feared as much as ones curiousity beckins &
calls to seek you out anyway. This is my life as one of them, I know the night, it is my oasis and haven of eternity. You can't help but want to know me, be me or not, your not sure, yet you will watch and wonder and answer my call. If you invite me in , I will come.
I am the nights mistress, I have no choice, I was chosen as so will you be.

I simply believe that the reason for the obsession of vampires is because vampires are immortal, powerful, and have such abilities that no one can actually possess. They have a hint of mystery and danger to them, yet vulnerability is also present. They are feared, beautiful, and ALMOST "from afar", excruciatingly perfect.
Plus, they do not exist, which makes them even more envied among everyday people, like myself.

The vampire obsession equates to the good girl with a bad boy; good vs evil; and the desire for immortality and supernatural power. Futhermore, it's symbolic of the drug culture with its addition and violence; the gay community's acceptance and assimilation; the religious communities with their taboos, beliefs, and disciplines. The vampire obession has diverse perspectives and povs. There's perversion as well as compassion. We like to say vampires are a fantasy, but are they?

I read all the books that are out at least 4 times each, and now I'm always thinking about edward. My comment for PalmBeach is it's not about who's Bella's relationship is strongest with it's about who she loves more. I can't wait to see who she chooses. I hope it's Edward that way she could live forever. For all those who haven't read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer go to your bookstore or library and GET IT.Trust me you won't regret it. As for the movie I can't wait. I'n curious too see who they'll pick as Edward. One things for sure Stephenie Meyer is a great author. Well, your article states that Moonlight bit the dust "for good", and that's not the case, here. My sources have stated that the show is not "dead" and they are working to bring it back either as a television program or a movie. DirecTV has not given an unequivocal "No" to helping to finance the show. They have just indicated that it's "no" - "For now". Until we have a network for the show, DirecTV is unable to help out. They cannot afford to fully finance the show, which is understandable and unreasonable for the fans to expect. As for the sets, Mick's and Beth's apartment sets were put into storage, not destroyed. This was explained to us when we went on the Warner Bros backstage tour on Memorial Day weekend, when 125 of us were taken on a very special tour that featured Moonlight's sets and in-studio shooting locations.
CBS has made a huge mistake in cancelling a series that averaged between 7.5m and 8m viewers on a weekly basis in what has been commonly referred to as "the death slot" (Friday from 9 to 10pm). Moonlight helped CBS to win Friday nights on a consistent basis. That cannot be said to have been true in the eight weeks since they pulled the show from the air (yes, we fans do keep track of the ratings, believe it or not).
Vampires are the new pink, as it were, and they are going to be left in the dust behind HBO, which will be running "True Blood" shortly, the Twilight movies, and god only knows what else that will crop up in the face of all this vampire love.
Nina Tassler claims that she has received few letters and that those letters were actor-centric. If this is the case, then she's not getting all her mail and needs to speak with the folks in the CBS mailroom. The fans love the entire show, not just Alex O'Loughlin. The chemistry between the actors really helped to make this show believable and to make it into the phenomenon that it is.
Since last year and well before there were any whiffs of danger for our show, the fans have mounted several charity campaigns, from giving 1000 dollars worth of stuffed animals to the Toys for Tots campaign, to multiple blood drives (run by more than one Moonlight fan group), to an ongoing food drive that has donated more than 4000 pounds of food to the Los Angeles Food Bank in the name of Moonlight to Moonlight fans joining the National Bone Marrow Registry. The list goes on and we're not giving up.
CBS and Nina Tassler have apparently seriously underestimated the Tribe. We're numerous and strong and we're not going away. We're continuing to campaign on behalf of our favorite show and won't be disheartened or demoralized by her dismissive attitude.
I close with a quote by Moonlight's 400 year old vampire, Josef Kostan...
Vampire solidarity! Rah Rah Rah (and all that).

Moonlight has not bit the dust for good. Dedicated and loyal fans of Moonlight continue to fight for it because of the wonderful romance in the show, the anguish displayed by Mick St. John as he struggled with no longer being a human, the wonderful friends of Mick St. John. The show had the entire package - romance, friendship, drama, wonderful chemistry between the lead and supporting cast, and great story lines. I looked forward every week to Moonlight. It captured my heart like so few shows do. I simply do not understand why it was cancelled when vamps are so popular now, nor do I understand the attitude of Nina Tassler at laughing at the fans over the cancellation. The disdainful attitude of CBS towards its viewers has caused me to totally give up on watching television ever again in the future. I don't appreciate being laughed at for being passionate about a television show. I will limit my entertainment to watching dvd's in the future and movies once they are on dvd because of the disdainful attitude of CBS. I guess Nina Tassler thinks fans of Moonlight deserved to be laughed at for holding blood drives and trying to save lives and their show. To me, that is unforgivable to laugh at people who are donating blood to save lives and their show and is a very callous attitude towards precious human life. It is not something I will ever forget.

Just stop with the pathetic essay's on why Moonlight was the best show ever, when you know it was pretty lame and cheesy. It wasn't groundbreaking, or critically acclaimed, and couldn't get enough ratings with a popular show as a lead in on CBS.
And as far as it coming back...whatever.
The show is not on the fall schedule ANYWHERE IN THIS UNIVERSE.
Therefore, to responsible journalists who care about facts and not wishful thinking....the show is done...dead!

Moonlight is alive and well to its fans that continue to campaign to have it picked up by another network. Nina Tassler with CBS has it all wrong about the show being "actor centric" And this coming from a woman who claimes to "love Vampires". Yes, we love Alex O'Loughling as Mick St. John but the show is a group effort by all of its acting, writing, directing, etc. talent to make it Moonlight. Vampires have always held their allure, whether in books, tv shows or movies. But CBS has missed out on this current resurgence of the genre.
DirecTV needs to stay in touch with Moonlight and its fans. We still believe that a partnership can be created between a network and DirecTV to bring Moonlight back. Sets can always be put back up or recreated. Don't give up on us yet! We have not given up the fight.
Also, I have grown tired of being called "rabid" or a "whiner" by those who continue to report about Moonlight. To me, those terms cannot be applied to those who are passionate about something they love so much when it was taken away without justification.
So why continue to write about a show that is "dead"? Maybe because the fans are making more of an impact than CBS and the rest want to admit to. And rightly so, the tribe just keeps getting stronger and more determined.

I always wonder why people feel the need to write negatives about a show or its fans. If you don't like it, don't watch it, but why feel the need to trash the people who do. If fans are fighting to bring back a show then good for them, whoever they are and whatever the show is. Television shows are about an hour of entertainment to share with your family and/or to have a brief time away from life's stress. If they are important enough to someone to fight for it, then why not respect that. Apparently some people get their entertainment by running down what others care about.

Well, I for one, am not a rabid whiner. I am an intelligent college educated woman, with a husband and a child, who absolutely loved the show Moonlight.
What's so wrong with fighting for what we believe in. Change does not come without a fight. I used to think like you. I couldn't believe that people would fight for a television show when there are so many more things that we should be fighting for. Then I found Moonlight and fell in love with it. When I found out that it had been canceled it felt like someone in my family had died. I have never done anything like this before. I was surprised that I had it in me, to tell you the truth.
To me, this isn't just about a television show anymore. It's about standing up for yourself to make your opinion heard. If you don't try then you automatically lose.

"Moonlight" was good while it lasted, but put a fork in it, it's done. Remember, it all comes down to money. It was too expensive to produce and the advertising obviously wasn't bringing in enough to sustain it. Of course, the Friday night timeslot probably didn't help.

I think Ms. Sparks only briefly touched on the most obvious answer. If vampires were generally hideous mucous-covered beasts with back hair and fly eyes, they wouldn't be all that popular except perhaps as novelty Halloween costumes.
But in worlds where vampires look like David Boreanaz, James Marsters and Alex O'Loughlin? Hoo. THERE'S a world I want to explore.
You can't not know that Edward is good-looking in Meyer's Twilight series; Bella remarks on it every five seconds. Werewolf Jacob is similarly hunky. If these boys were likened instead to high school dweebs from the chess team (apologies to chess teams everywhere), would people be trekking out to Forks?
I'll be looking forward to checking out True Blood this fall and will be watching Twilight when it comes out in movie form this December, when I'm not watching Buffy and Angel on DVD or Moonlight episodes I've stored on TiVo. Hottie vampires. There are worse ways to spend a few hours!

Sweet Potatoe, TV Addict and Tom Sizemore...I think you must be threatened by the prospect that we MOONLIGHT fans voices may indeed be being heard. I can think of no other reason that you would be so ugly to people who have never said anything disparinging against any of you. We are only stating the fact that we have chosen to spend our own time and energies to fight for something we believe in. We have not asked you to join us or even support our efforts. All we ask is that you stay out of our way and let us continue with our fight. You have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO GAIN by attempting to silence us. And as a matter of fact, you only provide us with more motivation to FIGHT ON. So, quoting from MOONLIGHT... Vampire Solidarity! Rah! Rah! Rah! (and all that)

To Sweet Potato and Tom Sizemore:
Your need to put down all 8 million Moonlight fans just proves that our campaign is working. Notice the Moonlight fans do not put other people's choices down. I am sure you are not the type of people who would donate blood, toys, and sign up for the bone marrow registry in the name of Moonlight and to help needy people at large. You would rather go on these sights, look for Moonlight postings, which you know you will find here since our tribe is huge and post everywhere, just to blast us. What a boring life you must lead. Go donate blood--and feel good about yourself. Then maybe all your negativity can be turned into something useful, not into bitterness and frustration.

As one of the three women who sponsored the nationwide Moonlight Blood Drive, which took place back in April, collected 3,600+ pints of blood over 30 states, and who is now, in show star Alex O'Loughlin's words: "continuing the work we started back in April" by working with him to do just that (Moonlight or not); I have a challenge:
Moonlight's creator/co-writer/producer, Trevor Munson - is hosting a Red Cross blood drive out in San Diego at the W Hotel this weekend, where he will make himself available to DONORS inside the blood drive room for autographs. Only donors will be admitted by Red Cross staff for privacy reasons........
I understand that a segment of Moonlight fans plan on attending Comic Con and skipping Trevor's Blood Drive in favor of the Comic Con blood bank drive where they will receive "goodie bags" (of comic book memorabilia)!
This man gave you your show, countless sources of enjoyment, and,for some, $$ from mdse. bearing his name (Team Trevor).
Well, Trevor's blood drive needs donors; Your priority needs to be a show of support for Trevor as well as the show.
You can't write networks claiming loyalty to the show, without showing your support for Trevor's event and, in turn - Moonlight.
If this resonates with any Moonlight fan, please go to www.givelife.org, use moonlight as your password, and make an appt. on either 7/25 or 7/26.
The W Hotel is only 8 miles from the Comic Con event and the Red Cross is distributing free tee shirts.
Hope to see you!

I simply chose to support Alex O'Loughlin and his passion for the works of the American Red Cross.
Consider, if you will - that it is the Red Cross you will be calling for assistance when disaster strikes! I've yet to hear of a local blood bank providing money, temporary shelter, clothing etc......
And, if you don't live in San Diego...........
well, you get the point!

At least the media and those with common sense aren't call US "nuts", "rabid" and "fanatical".
The show was cancelled in May; there was a small window of opportunity to convince CBS to have a change of heart and pick it up again at the last minute, but after the personal, irrational attacks on Nina Tassler and Les Moonves, that window was slammed down on ALL of us (per MY source)!
There was only ONE other network that was EVER truly looking at Moonlight for a pick up; maybe they saw the behavior of some of the fans they'd inherit along with it and RAN LIKE HELL!

Obviously you have misinterpreted my post; which was actually a response to the earlier post(s) of those whom I consider to be hypocrits...
They proclaim their devotion to Moonlight and then proceed to encourage their members to donate blood at another blood drive-when the show's creator is graciously giving up his time to host his own blood drive in the same city! This is all about an agenda; their's, not mine.
I NEVER suggested that fans must donate blood; but it seems to me that if you are planning on donating blood anyway, why would you not support the one being sponsored by the person who is responsible for the show's existance???
I see plenty of people using this opportunity to talk about issues other than the subject matter of this article; I feel that promoting a CHARITY event is just as worthy as seeing the same old rhetoric being posted by the same people.
Self-serving? Hardly...

This is way off topic but I have to ask. I am a little confused here, Promoting Alex. What is the big difference about where one gives blood? I thought donating blood was about the lives saved not who is sponsoring the drive. What difference is there in getting "goodie bags" of comic book swag or an "autograph"? When I donate, I do so locally and I get nothing and I am happy to do so. It just seems you have another agenda here and it isn't about giving blood or saving lives.

Promoting Alex (I notice it's not Promoting Red Cross)... I assume that since you identify yourself "As one of the three women who sponsored the nationwide Moonlight Blood Drive" that you are also one of the three women who started the FOR PROFIT fansite a while back promising special correspondence and chats with show affiliates for Moonlight.
If your sources were so wonderful and so close to the action, then you should have known the show was cancelled when you started that site.
The "Triad" as you call them, have done more than their share of comunity service - FOR FREE MEMBERSHIP.
I would also like to point at that you have identified yourself as one of the thre women who threw a full blown HISSY FIT because they weren't getting all of the credit they thought "Alex" would notice. (talk about a rabid fan)
Blood drives - ALL OF THEM - are about saving lives, not shows and meant to bolster health, not egos.
Get over yourself. You were NOT the lone crusader out there. If you'd spent half the energy fostering the realationships you squandered with those sites, it would have been better for everyone involved.

So which is it? Why should people who have paid for tickets to the ComicCon miss out on their (paid for) activities to trail across town to another Blood Drive when there's one in the same building? And why should they be made to feel guilty and unsupportive of Moonlight if they don't?
I'm sure Trevor wouldn't want this kind of publicity for his event, and I'm also pretty sure that Alex would't want to be represented in this way either. Oh, yes, and just to address your accusations about *someone* "proceed[ing] to encourage their members to donate blood at another blood drive"; what part of this thread (http://forums.moonlightline.com/viewtopic.php?f=349&t=11396&p=323659&hil it=blood+drive#p323659) gave you that impression, exactly? It wasn't me who originally wrote, "You can't write networks claiming loyalty to the show, without showing your support for Trevor's event and, in turn - Moonlight." I certainly understand enough to see that the preceding phrase DOES suggest that attendance at Trevor's Blood Drive is connected to taking part in the "save our show" campaign, otherwise why would contacting the TV networks even be mentioned? However, I actually agree with you totally that it shouldn't matter *where* people decide to give blood.
Besides, who ever said that ComicCon attendees *wouldn't* donate at Trevor's drive?

Lynette C:
Obviously you just don't get it and you never will. To put it in simple terms for you so there can be no misunderstanding on your part:
It is hypocritical for those who have spent enough money to feed a third world country on mailing postcards, pictures, garlic, and buying ONE DAY ads in the trade papers NOT to want to spend a few dollars on a cab ride across town to give at a Red Cross blood drive run by ML's creator, rather than at the San Diego blood bank which will only use that blood locally and offers NONE of the other disaster relief aid the Red Cross does!
The show is OVER; this is NOT a save our show campaign!
The fan club? WB and CBS show promotors were as surprised as everyone else when the show was cancelled. Yes, it was $25 a year for members which would have paid for the dedicated server the site would have required to have the cast involved. I have ALL the correspondance with the PTBs and cast members involved.
Look at any other fan club; $25 is the LEAST you'll pay! Oh, and those other sites you mention are free? Well, the ONLY actual connection you'll have with the cast there is the one you're all being spoon-fed while your pockets are picked dry bit by bit...
I found out a lot of truth from dealing with WB, CBS and others, and if I REALLY had an agenda like some, and repeated what I know; your little world would come crashing down!
Almightyisis: don't waste your breath; they enjoy this too much!
Simple enough?

Promoting Alex : Firstly, I do NOT appreciate the condescending tone of your response. I wonder if Alex O'Loughlin's management know how you address his fans in a public forum, considering you're meant to be the official representative of his fan club. Are you *trying* to alienate his entire fan base?
YOU were the one who tied writing to networks with Trevor's Blood Drive. The letter writing campaign is to try to save the show - what other inference was I going to make? However, now you've clarified your reason for tying the two together, I can't help but notice the flaws in your logic. Who is to say that ANY of the ComicCon attendees have spent money sending postcards? Or donated to the poster campaign? Or even that they won't travel across town to attend Trevor's event? You're making an awful lot of assumptions for people you don't even know.
As far as the fan club goes, I suggest you check the previous posts - I never mentioned anything about fan clubs! I also never mentioned the free Moonlight sites either, but seeing as you did, I'll happily admit that I'm a member of MoonlightLine, and I'll say here that I don't appreciate your insinuation that money donated at *any* of the free sites is being used for something other than what it's donated for.

Just a bit of quick math. at $25 / "memeber" that "fan club" would be bringing in over $100, 000 just based on the members of ONE free Moonlight fansite.
My pockets haven't lost a single penny in all of the months I've been a member. I haven't been able to participate in any of the campaigns requiring mailings or calling; nor was I able to attend any of the conventions, including the one coming up.
No money is required by those other sites AT ALL. Participation in the campaigns isn't required. The funds collected are voluntary and used for specified purposes - ads and / or charitible endeavors.
If you want to sound credible at all where the "the Blood drive IS NOT a save our show device", then pay attention to your own words. Blood drives - even local ones - are worthy endeavors. If the object is to save lives, then it hardly matters if the donation site is being run by the show's creator.
Granted, I dont know the regulations in California, but here, the Red Cross drives are regularly backed up and difficult to get into. That drive across town could result in not being able to donate at all because of scheduling.

But this thread has really gotten way off topic.
I loved Moonlight, so did my entire family.Am I campaginging to save it? yes, Do I think its dead? Well, I am hoping its not dead, only resting. We are waiting for an official press release telling us to stop all effforts. Until that day..
I think the Vampire Genre is really hot now, CBS missed the bandwagon and dropped Moonlight too soon. IT would have gained an audience, we are a loyal fan base.
Hey, I also watched Buffy. I do like the vampire genre, but I also like Sci Fi. However I wouldnt trash someone for liking a show I didnt have interest in. We are all entitled to our own opinions, and I learned a long time ago, you can argue a point until you are blue in the face, no one is going to change the way they feel about something. but cant we act like adults? I guess I am going to get bombarded now because I said my piece. And I thought you couldnt discuss politics and religion with strangers, when did television shows join the list? LOL
