Why does he feel this way? Is he afraid of sharing the limelight?(Again? Maybe?). Maybe he feels Heath Ledger's "Joker" character outshined his "Batman" character, and he doesn't want to chance it happening with someone else as the "Robin" character.

I think saying he will resign was a bit of a twist on what he actually said. Batman's story isn't just about him, it's about how many lives he changes and Robin (X@@##! Grayson) has the most interesting story of all.

Wow, I can't even say "D.i.c.k" Grayson without it being bleeped out?

Well, after all, his last name is, Bale :)
Ok, seriously, he might consider the fact that moviegoers attend a Batman film to see Batman, not the actor portraying him. Furthermore, a belief that you're bigger than a film franchise is hubris at its highest.
I'm sure I could come up with more, but this is a good start. Too bad he'll never see this....

NO! I totally agree. Have you ever seen the Batman movies with Robin in them? They suck!

I have a feeling he already shared the spotlight with Robin in Batman Begins. I think the little boy, who shows up twice in the movie, is going to grow up to be Robin. (On the fire escape...Batman gives him something to prove to the other kids that he really saw Batman; and later at the end, Rachel Dawes protects the kid when the city is under attack). I liked Christian Bale, but I'm starting to think he needs to get over himself. It's true, like you guys said, he's not the reason people are watching these movies, it's the storyline, the characters, etc. Fans to the comics will want to see Robin eventually. I can't wait to see who it'll be. Eh, Christian Bale holds his mouth weird anyway...get another actor. lol
