Bryant Gumbel doesn't know the meaning of the word "underrated". He is the most self-absorbed moron on the planet that has never played professional sports but has a sports show. I refuse to watch the show because of him. Last show I watched was about a former NFL player, in a coma, from kidney failure and BG response was "So the only thing left is to pull the plug"? VULGAR!
SATC overrated, you must be a male reviewer since every woman I know LOVES this show. Including me since I own the entire series on DVD.

I have to disagree about "The Comeback" being overrated; I don't think I heard more than two positive things about it (from Kudrow fans or tv critics) while it had its short lived run.
I love your use of "Entourage" and pitting those boys against the girls of "SATC," both are shows I think were overrated but one definitely did a better job of trying to live up to the hype rather than just giving in with a smart X@@##! smile (I'll let you figure out which I'm talking about).
Another underrated show, in my opinion, was "Unscripted" from George Clooney/Grant Heslov. Anything with Frank Langella is gold, and its just a shame they were all so wrapped up in other projects they couldnt devote more energy/effort to more than ten episodes.
Now I'm just eagerly awaiting "Suburban Shootout!"

Big love is a great show and my partner and I really enjoy watching it.
When I tried to explain a precies of the show to my partner she was disgusted at the thought of plural marriage but after watching the show her mind is certainly changed.
We now look forward to Saturday nights and even have rented the DVD.

Andrew, you missed it with Carnivale. A great story, great cinematography, dedication to the real feel and dispair of the Depression in the 1930s US, and a higher level of storytelling than any other TV show I've seen. If you don't like Carnivale, you don't understand what is wrong with television today. I would compare it to enjoying Dr. Suess over Shakespeare.

The Sopranos and Big Love as the best shows on TV?
I know these things are subjective but - have you never watched The Wire? Knocked 'em both out of the running.
Also, you're wrong about Carnivale. It was a landmark show both in terms of layered storyline and impeccable production values - not to mention the incredible performances.

I frequently recommend Carnivale to fans of good scripted shows, but I always preface it with: "it's a little uneven" and "a little confusing." BECAUSE IT IS! We know it is because Moore, Knauf and HBO were famously battling for creative control since the start, so of COURSE the show suffered. It's still damn fine television--brilliant and unique--and VERY underrated. (I feel the same way about Fox's Millennium.)
PS: I never heard anyone say anything positive about The Comeback either. Certainly not enough to warrant it being labeled "overrated."

Wait, what? Did I miss something here? Did you say Carnivale was overrated? What?! If anything, it should be underrated. It's probably HBO's most underrated series ever. Everyone has heard of The Sopranos and Big Love. Very few people know Carnivale. Besides, it's very complex good vs evil storyline was way way way to deep for our ADD society to comprehend. And so it was, that HBO forever traded away wonder...for reason.
PS: Entourage, IMO, is the most overrated show on HBO, period.
