think about it, this is what these people do for a living. A lot of people who retire at the "normal" retirement age of 65 (67) usually don't stop working in some sense. Many go on to get part-time jobs, not necessarily because they need something to supplement their social security or need the money, but because they need to be doing something. A lot of people just want to get out of the house for a few hours every other day to keep the blood flowing.
My grandfather worked until his mid-80s. He'd work five or six hours daily, not to mention gardening and stuff like that in the summertime.
I plan on being like that too. I can't sit still for more than an hour or so.
but that's what these bands "know" how to do, they don't have training in other stuff. A lot of them never went to college. Seriously, what's a mid-40s tattooed, hair dyed, face pierced guy going to go do with no education or having a "professional" look? Go back to making music, naturally.
Why not keep going like the Rolling Stones. None of them are at "retirement age" so why do so many people say they should?? That's their job. Sure, they have millions of dollars in the bank and could probably sit the rest of their lives on a lounger next to the pool, but some people actually enjoy their jobs. That's why these bands get back together, either entirely or just a few original members with a new guitarist or drummer, etc.
As long as people want to see them, they're gonna keep doing it. I just dread the 90s bands
