Anyone against the seal hunt should learn a little more than the visuals they are fed of baby white coats being beat to death...that tends to be the full extent of their knowledge on the matter.

Seals multiply (in massive numbers) year after year even with the seal hunt. They devour fish in massive amounts. Cod stocks are at all time lows and Canadian fisherman are extremely restricted now while foreign vessels come and wipe out what little is left. Even cod stocks are wiped out, then seals and cod will start to die off anyways, and we've lost cod to boot. There are MILLIONS of seals and their numbers are RAPIDLY growing year after year.

Baby white coats are NO LONGER HUNTED. And the adults that are have almost every last piece of them used right down to the genitals that are huge aphrodisiacs in Asian Markets.
Morrisey still plays in countries that are the largest seal product purchasers in the world. Thousands of people depend on the sealing industry for employment and to feed their families.

The only difference in seals and rats is that people may deem baby seals to be "cuter" (again, they are no longer hunted), and all parts of a seal can be put to use. Very little waste.

Before people take up a cause, they should research more than just the brainwashing picture that animal rights activists put out there to prey on the sympathy of those with kind hearts...but who sometimes overlook all the facts.

Protestors use old stats and figures (some even from the 1800's!) showing how large the seal populations used to be and so on...but if they were to reveal contemporary figures...it would show that the government has done a great job at monitoring seal hunts...even with the quotos they give out the seal populations continue to rise. Cod stocks (which almost completely disappeared) have slowly begun to recover with proper monitoring of fishing permits and keeping the seal populations in check.

Old figures talk about certain seal numbers being approximately 30 million back in the 18th century. With the current cod stocks being so low and if seal numbers were that high, cod would be wiped out completely on the East Coast and seals would be starving to death by the millions. Tell me which is more humane?

They are animals. We can't tell them about birth control...and I can't stress enough that they aren't just slaughtered senselessly, it is HEAVILY regulated and seal oils, pelt, flippers, meat, everything...is in such demand that it all ends up getting used.

Take up a real cause...like elephant hunters who kill those beautiful animals for ivory and leave the rest of animal to rot. Much better cause.
