i would argue that this change is occurring. In fact I think said stealth change is already occuring. Sure, there is a long 'weigh' to go, but note what i've observed:
a) Reality TV has helped put relatively 'normal' people back in the media, images of women who are not 6' 105 lbs yet still heralded as attractive. This is important because it is forcing our male population to register these images as a positive. OK, perhaps these women are still pretty thin, but it's a start. Plus, those weightloss shows are really pushing 'healthy.'
I guess my point is, I think we're at a tipping point. I think American's Next Top Model is the plus size X@@##!...now we just need to stop calling her 'Plus Size.' Just model will do, thanks.

A sad state of things... maybe sadder that it may be news to people that this is not such a great way to be. We've come to accept so much in society without questioning it. It's trivial to put so much emphasis on this in the grand scheme of life.
