Nice article, Mr. Payne. I, too, appreciate the effort the creators of this mini-series have gone to in order to humanize the fathers of this country. I don't agree with your assessment of the make up for Mr. Morse - I think its right on based on portraits of Washington available. If anything, Morse looks gentler than GW. Will look for more of your articles! - S.

John Adams is without a doubt, some of the finest programming I have ever seen. I love the way the show is not focusing on the war scenes but the focus on the men that shaped our country. I can not tell you how many moments have given me the "chills" and made me proud to be an American.
But I too disagree about David Morse's make-up as George Washington. I think it appears to be dead on since the man did have wooden teeth and his face would be a bit distorted.
Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney better get ready to accept their EMMY's come award time. They are a lock to win!

Mr. Giamatti, Bravo, An excellent performance. I am an avid student of American History, and you sir have done anexcellent job in portraying one of Americas least celebrated, but most heroic and dedicated Presidents. I congratulate you, Sir.

Who IS the actor who plays King George III??
I can't find a listing for him anywhere.
I was mesmerized by the scene.

"It's been nearly 250 years, and not a whole lot has changed."
I disagree with this statement on so many levels. The country we have today is nowhere near the country the founding fathers left behind. We have become the type of country they fought against. We now have a nation where the rights declared on the constitution slowly being taken away from us by corrupt politicians from both parties.
The series is inspiring and have found myself weeping to see what this nation was at one time and wish that is how it was today. The founding fathers had the belief that government was to be ruled by the people not the other way around. I encourage everyone to see the series it opened my eyes to see we are no longer a free people but slaves to the state.

I see the day approaching when this series will be considered terrorist propaganda. Beware of our government!
