Spacehog1. Spacehog- In The Meantime Back in 1995, it seemed that no matter what rock station you were listening to or what music video channel you were watching, "In The Meantime" was everywhere you looked.

Pretty good list.

Here's some I thought were overlooked:
Cake - "The Distance"
Toadies - "Possum Kingdom"
Presidents of the United States of America - "Lump"
Blind Melon - "No Rain"
Live - "Lightning Crashes"
Soundgarden - "Black Hole Sun"

Ah, Presidents. Good stuff. I hard a hard time choosing what songs to post YouTube clips of, because each one has their own charm. And I didn't want to have a clip for every song and bog down the article.

I think The Flaming Lips are amazing and the fact that She Don't Use Jelly, an instantly catchy piece of noise pop, was a hit is a testament to their greatness.
From the band's website: "With its chiming pedal steel chorus breaks and seemingly nonsensical lyrics, the song entered into the realms of novelty hit. It's a happy little ditty about strange people and their individual idiosyncrasies, with pretty melodies laced throughout and punctuated by trademark moments of crunching but still harmonious noise."
Sums my feelings quite well.
Also, Soundgarden had more than one hit:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superunknown#Singles
And so did TPOTUSA.

A hit on the Billboard Top 100 means more than modern rock because it is a more broad chart.
I love Possum Kingdom. The lyrics are fun.

But, as always, I gotta say that chart performance doesn't imply high quality. But a lot of these were great pop songs.

I like to walk around and sing MMMMMMMM, but with my own lyrics because the melody is so simple.
"Once, there was a guuuy who
went on the Internet
Heeee
Read an arrrr-te-cal
and then he wrote a come-eh-hent.
Then he sang this saw-ong
It came out real gooooood.
Mmmm mmmm mmm"

You're right PUSA are 2-hit wonders (with Peaches being the other)
But Soundgarden's only song to go Billboard Top 40 Mainstream was "Black Hole Sun"...

I was going to add Violent Femmes 'Blister in the Sun' but I just looked and saw it didn't chart. Surprised to find that out. Most kids/young adults from the 90s would know that song.

BTW, I've never heard of Coyote Shivers and he/them didn't have any charting songs.

An interesting article would be one about songs that aren't one hit wonders but are in the public conscious. A lot of people might not know The Minutemen wrote Corona, but they'd recognize it as the theme from Jackass.

Luscious Jackson released 3 albums and an EP between 1993 and 2000, definitely not only one album. And that Coyote Shivers song must have been a hit in some alternate universe because it certainly wasn't one here.

Who in the world is your fact checker? Among the most glaring of your errors is that "What I Am" by Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians is an 80's song, not a 90's song.
