X-MenFor better or worse we have a completed X-Men movie trilogy. You didn't think that was the end though, right? Wolverine fans can expect the character to debut in a self-titled movie due for release in 2009, with a Magneto prequel set to follow. It's only a matter of time before the X-Mansion is revisited and we get another outing with our favorite mutant team.

Interesting thoughts but the superhero movies that are critically acclaimed and commercially successful are those that have a heavy dose of realism and character depth alongside the sci-fi - X-Men 2 (sometimes considered the best superhero movie ever made), Spider-Man 2, Batman Begins. The ones that are based heavily on comicbooks don't get as much critical approval but can still do well commercially (X-Men The Last Stand); the ones that are dull and totally non-comicbook are loved by critics but flounder at the box office (Superman Returns). X-Men The Last Stand and Superman Returns are extremes that need to be avoided if you want critical acclaim and a good box office.
Your ideas of time travel, 5,000-year-old Egyptian mutants and reviving Cyclops and Phoenix as horsemen of Apocalypse seem shaky at best. Xavier's astral projection in X-Men The Last Stand created enough 'WTF?' reaction without any more extreme sci-fi entering the formula. It would need a radical rethink of X-Men and another take on it entirely by a totally different kind of director for your ideas and characters to work.

I guess we'll see where this goes. I didn't think of seeing Cyclops as a bad character. But we'll see what happens.

No no no, Michael Clark Duncan or Ralph Moeller as Apocalypse, Rutger Howar as Cable. If Robert Conrad was in shape he'd be closer to the comic book Wolverine. Everybody knows Angela Basett or anybody but Halle Berry should have been Storm.
You need a good director like John Woo to put some punch into it!
Honestly, I hated all those movies with a passion, I hate directors that put their own spin on the source material. Spiderman, Hulk, Ghost Rider, Daredevil.... Howard the Duck, were all a waste.
The only ones I couldn't really complain about was the first two Blade movies even though I feel the vampire genre is wayyy overdone. I would have added punisher but I didn't want to see it. The Dolph Lundgren one pretty much tainted it for me.
Save the Xmen? Blow it all up and start from scratch. If Speed Racer turns out good give it to Andy and Larry Wachowski.
Firefly and Serenity were overrated.

You continue your hatred of Gambit just to spite me, don't you? ;)
I think when looking at the X-franchise, you have to walk a VERY thin line between staying faithful to the comic and making something that the general non-comic-book-loving crowd will both enjoy. Batman Begins was able to do this by taking the canon and giving it a new take.
Cyclops was poorly utilized and was even more two-dimensional than the comics. James Marsden had nothing to work with.
I think Zac Ephron is a very fine actor, even if he's too pretty for his own good. ;) I think given the right role, he'll surprise you. Admit it, when you first heard "Heath Ledger" and "the Joker" you probably weren't jumping for joy. Ohhh... I feel bad even bringing him up :(
Firefly was spectacular and I can't believe anyone mentioned Speed Racer... ugh. I love anime and I'm scared.
Rutger Howar as Cable, I love it.

Zac Efron as Hellion... O_O never has such a tragedy befallen the big screen! He's too goody-goody to be Hellion. Plus he and Devon Aoki look nothing near the same age to be going to school together...
You need Chace Crawford for Elixir (obviously... blonde... and eventually gold skinned) and someone like Drew Fuller (a little older now but American's always put mid-twenties people into teenage roles...) for Hellion.
I love the idea of Behr for Havok, and the choice for Emma Frost is impeccable!
I think they should scrap the way they were going (since it ended rather poorly) go the way of a select one or two X-Men teaching the next generation like you said. Then again I'm a little biased as I've always preferred the comics set around the younger X-Men, New Mutants, X-Men Academy, New X-Men and (yes... I'm going to give it ago) Young X-Men when that is released too.

my prediction/ what would be amazing...
1. butcher comic book storylines a bit and have the x-men join the avengers movie
2. Bring back Xavier with a new actor (because of the end of X-men 3) and make him stricken with grief (butchering storyline again) forming onslaught which would make an amazing villain for the avengers if they have a trilogy (b/c it will have to be the last seeing as most of them will perish)
3. Hook Gambit and Rogue up in the future because as we saw at the end of the movie the cure doesn't take permanently
4. Bring in Cable
5. Reunite ALL not just some of the Avengers.
6. Break some rules and butcher more storylines to fit th blasphemies they have already commited on screen.
7. Give deadpool his own movie starring Ryan Reynolds.
8. Hook up Kitty Pryde and Iceman because he's a cheating scumbag
9. Make more individually focused movies
10. ...Deadpool movie
11. Don't screw up the portrayal of the Weapon X program in the new movie OR THE CHARACTERS *cough* Deadpool
12. A deadpool movie
13 more intertwining in he Marvel universe and bring on Onslaught.
Appologies for spelling and redundancy... its late. But that in my geeky opinion would be the most epic turn of feature film events to ever hit the big screen
