Rupert Everett has reason to be bitter. Gays were once only given supporting roles like his role in My Best Friend's Wedding. But with the success of Brokeback Mountain, gay characters have entered the mainstream. But gay actors have not been given the chance to play them.
I would love to see Rupert Everett get a starring gay role and give it an Oscar winning performance. I think he can do it.
I agree with him that seeing actors and actresses who once starred in quality movies taking tawdry roles is demeaning to them and disappointing for us to watch.

I guess Bitter Rupert does not see all the good these men do. what about all the work in Darfur that Clooney does???? As for Al Pacino and DeNiro they act the socks off of MrEverett.Personally I feel he jealous and only hopes to be 1/4 of the actors these men are.

I did a comment before but it must not have gotten transmitted. Rupert is indeed a pretty good actor. He needs to be careful how he bashes those pioneers. I know that you are entitled to your opinion, but to blame them for your "downward spiral" work offers; or the lack of offers, is not fair. All of these people would be good allies for him to have if by chance something wonderful came about! Besides, the industry ins't going to give you anything, you must work for it! Right now; you are committing career sabotage yourself LET IT GO and apologize!

i dont reckon he has any reason to be bitter.all the actors he names they are legends,so he must be very careful about his comments.i think it has nothing to do in these. days if you are a gay or a straight person, but he should realise that he is the last person on earth who can slag all these people off.so i guess its time to take a step back and give them an apology.in my opinion i´ve just got 3 words to say-its pure jealousy.and by the way,i cant remember that he has won an oscar or anything else so far,so you´ve got a lot to learn from your elder colleagues mate.

Rupert is really bitter with the way he said those things with his fellow actors. I wonder if he's busy with his career. I haven't seen his face in the movieworld for quite some time now.

Hey Season,
Remarks like the ones he said is probably why he hasn't gotten any deals. He really shouldn't have said those things. This isn't about sexual preference and he SOULD NOT HAVE USED that as a plateau for catapulting his career. Why can't people just work for their just desserts instead of trying to under cut someone else's accomplishments!
