How the Grinch Stole ChristmasI'm sitting with my family at the Thanksgiving table. At the focus is the bird carcass, a bulging centerpiece surrounded by newly stuffed bodies. The cranberry jello, still quivering in the shape of the can, is the only untouched side dish. There is a settling quiet as the full-stomached groans subside and give way to satisfied smiles, until finally somebody strikes up a conversation. Like the feeding frenzy that preceded it, it starts out slow and steadily grows more frantic.

Wow James, for a moment there I thought you were gonna blow it!
-
However, there are a few changes I'd have to make to this list to make it mine.
here goes...
-
10. The Santa Clause. We'll call it the entire trilogy here, even though I didn't see part 3 yet, but still, great Christmas movies and fun for the whole family. Gives kids a little deeper explanation of Santa, assuming they're not completely naive and really believe that Santa's an immortal and has been around forever.
-
9.Home Alone. After not seeing this for years before finally seeing it again last Christmastime, I realize that the scenes where the blowtorch 'crowns' Joe Pesci and when Daniel Stern comes in the window barefoot to a floor full of broken glass ornaments you had better not have your mouth full of any liquid, because it will be coming back out, in all likelihood not just through your mouth, but through your nose as well.
-
8. A Charlie Brown Christmas. Just the Vince Guaraldi soundtrack is enough.
-
7. Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The original cartoon, not the crappy Jim Carrey version. I did not need to see the Grinch as a little green kid in school thank you very much director Ron Howard. I know you needed some filler, but come on?
-
6. The Year Without A Santa Claus. Heat Miser? Snow Miser? Mickey Rooney? Another Rankin/Bass production, like Rudolph... Come on, this needs to be on ALL lists!

5. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. "Bumble's Bounce!" One of my favorite things about this is that now we actually do have dollies that cry.
-
4. Christmas Vacation. Another hilarious classic. Lots of classic scenes, but who can forget Cousin Eddie and the black dickie he wears under the white sweater? And of course, "Sh*tter was full!"
-
3. Scrooge (1970, Albert Finney version). A timeless story, this is my favorite version of Dickens' classic. Mom says it's the 1951 Alastair Sim version, but I like Finney's better and Sim's got some pretty nasty Brit teeth in that '51 version
-
1. Elf. Very fast riser to the top of my all-time list; heck, there are even times when I sit and debate myself over whether this or A Christmas Story is my favorite, at times I will switch them, so I think it's a safe bet to call it a draw here. This is 100%, beginning to end, fantastic film.
-
1. A Christmas Story. I have to say, that I believe it fact that this is the greatest Christmas movie of all time. You cannot top it. This IS Christmas. Although, Elf is definitely up there. It's a tie.

Agent, I'm with you. I sometimes can't decide if I like Elf more or A Christmas Story. A Christmas Story is such a classic, I watch it every year during Christmas season.

I absolutely love Christmas movies. I especially love "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street". I just really love Christmas time because people are more calmer and kinder to one another then than they are all year long. People are fickle and should not be!

what about Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey?

weak list.
Jingle all the way was terrible. When Sinbad is the supporting cast you know you've got trouble.
Jim Carrey's Grinch was horrible also. I'll stick to the original thanks.
And where the heck is Ernest Saves Christmas?

aww, Scrooged, good one
"Clearly someone doesn't watch Conan."
And "someone" does watch Conan, he just doesn't memorize every single skit or see the show every single night
