You are all right! Shame on Deborah Harry. This old woman should not say a word. She would have been on top, but she took a year off to take care of her dead beat boyfriend.
She gave it up. Now is not the time to talk, they have a shot.

There are lots of people in the arts community who probably say the same things as her. Jomi Mitchell did a couple of years ago. I think the difference between American idol and the show Star Search from the 80's for example is that part of the program shows us all the people who have poor singing skills, and thus get criticized by the judges on air, especially Cowell. I personally see it as bad taste, a waste of my time and pretty lowbrow entertainment value at best. Deborah is a very nice person you know. She always speaks intelligently and from the heart. You people who were offended by her comments shouldn't take it so personally. Besides, this was probably part of a much larger interview she gave and was taken out of context. But anyways, there's nothing wrong with free speech is there? (especially if you back up your thoughts with a supporting arguement). She sounds dismayed that the American media is focusing so much attention on producing new artists who are singing other peoples' material, much like a karaoke bar, instead of coming up with material that is new. I don't think that is for everyone, but I can see her point. By the way, JAX what you wrote about her decision to take care of her "dead beat" boyfriend is so retarded I think you should wait a few years before you type anymore posts.
