I have watched Rescue Me since day one and LOVE IT. It is funny, serious, entertaining and enjoyable. I hope it stays on the air for years.

What makes this a great show is the daring that it has in bringing forth scenes & topics that are uncomfortable while having the realism and development of the characters that you can relate to and that sucks you into the environment. Neither lofty or normal, the characters & humor are definitely slanted toward the male perspective but this is part of what sets it apart. In any great drama you want to take the viewer to a place they have never been and do it in a convincing way- and this show achieves that and then some. Very fresh. It reminds me of Full Metal Jacket, in that every risk is taken to bring you to straight to the meat of it- nearly daring you to be offended. Besides, I would watch any show with Carrie Thorne in it... need I say more? Whoa! Beauty and talent!
