Steven Tyler Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler has blasted TV talent shows insisting he could never "endorse such methods" for discovering new talent. The rocker refuses to watch shows like American Idol, which featured his guitarist Joe Perry last night, because he feels stars should work hard to reach the top - not get lucky on a television show.

I'm so glad to hear Steven say this out loud. Aerosmith was the reason I started playing guitar when I was a kid. Apparently Joe has forgotten what made him cool for the past three decades. Steven ... it's time to sit Joe down and make him watch some footage from the good ol' days and perhaps put an end to embarrassing moments like last night's farce. Reality sucks!

People it is just a show. If Joe wanted to perform on IDOL it is entirely his business. If Steven thinks this is the wrong way to get into the business, well that is his opinion. Unfortunately for him, millions of people do not feel the same.
IDOL is what it is intended to be...entertainment with the chance for someone to get a start in music. I would like to know who would not enjoy, and appreciate, getting this kind of start instead of struggling for it.
Also...let's not forget...Tyler is getting up there in years at the age where griping comes naturally...shame, shame Steven. Don't worry about how the young musicians are getting their start in the business, worry more about how foolish you are going to look if you do not stop with the cosmetic surgery. Pretty soon you will look younger than your kids.

Dear joanna38, I think the only one trying too hard to stay young here is Joe. He was eager to share in Sanjaya's 15 minutes of fame ... how lame is that? True rock & roll is supposed to have attitude ... where was it? Joe has gone from a "Toxic Twin" to just plain toxic. Poor Steven.

JUST ASKING...you said it all..thanks! Am I losing it here, or what? I thought Joe accompanied Kelly Clarkson. Well the night was filled with fast-guest-spots and it was a riot, so please excuse my ignorance.
STEVEN...you were NOT even invited to the party, perhaps that is your biggest gripe. You were there one time during IDOL, but not invited for the finale. LOL

FYI ... Tyler's interview was done in advance of J.P.'s appearance on A.I. Jealousy ,I'm sure, is the last thing Steven is feeling. I wish everyone would read the "Village Voice":
"Sanjaya gets a huge larger-than-life tongue-in-cheek intro, complete with 2001 music. He sings "You Really Got Me" with a wind machine blowing his trenchcoat back and Joe Perry from Aerosmith decomposing behind him. The crying girl is back again. This X@@##! is not funny anymore."
I'm glad someone saw it the way I did.
