Upcoming 'Star Trek' Film To Hit Theaters Christmas Day 2008

The original Star TrekStar Trek, one of the most popular and successful franchises in the history of movies and television, returns to the big screen under the creative vision of J.J. Abrams, the force behind Lost, Alias and Mission Impossible III for Paramount Pictures. The film will begin shooting this fall for a Christmas Day 2008 release.

re:THE NEW STARTREK MOVIE, I WILL WISH IT ALL SUCCESS,HOWEVER HAVING COME THROUGH A WHOLE GAMBIT OF STARTREK PROGRAMMES THE ONLY ONE THAT KEPT MY INTEREST WAS S.G.BUT IT STILL LACKED THAT KIND OF FAMILY FEELING THAT KIRK,SPOCK,BONES,SCOTTY,UHURA,CHEKOV AND SULU ENGENDERED, PERHAPS IT'S OLD AGE BUT IT IS LIKE LOSING OLD FRIENDS WHO CANNOT BE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE FICTIONAL.

Oh no...
They are going to "re-imagine" the original series. Can YOU imagine Tom Cruise as Kirk, David Schwimmer as spock and a guest appearance by Quentin Tarantino as Doctor McCoy in his one and only scene in the movie?
Throw in lots of cheesy dialog, implausible special effects and things blowing up and I think we've got a picture of what this movie will be.
I fear this is going to be really bad.
