Heidi isn't a spring chicken. It's tough to get your body in tip-top shape for a prime time event in just a few months.

Hosting is the right move.
Walking in the show only serves to steal another girls moment.
Leaving her position as judge/commentator/mentor would be heinous.
Worse then a veteran quarterback dropping his jacket and microphone job, to rob a rookie of his position.
