The word of God is the word of God. You cannot rip out a few pages of the Bible and make it go away. In the end we will all be judged by him for the choices we have made.

How about not destroying perfectly good Bibles and just not reading or looking at them? Destroying Bibles is a stupid, childish reaction to something he obviously disagrees with. However, his actions don't in any way take away the truth of the Bible's message. According to the Biblical (God's) view, homosexuality is an abominable thing.
Does McKellen know that there are other parts of the Bible that condemn homosexuality?

I don't know if I agree with the other commenters. I think he is staging a small-scale Tea Party against a biblical doctrine that he finds faulty. I'm against the destruction of property...but this seems like a pretty peaceful protest.
He probably should just chuck the whole bible and go atheist - or at least rip out the pages that bless those who rape and pillage and kill children also.

Seriously, first he shouldn't deface property that doesn't belong to him. Secondly, he shouldn't speak of equal rights if he's censoring something else. Thirdly, sounds like he is having tremendous guilty over his lifestyle. And YES, it is a lifestyle. How you LIVE is your LIFESTYLE.
