There's no arguing that the Hammer films were powerful but those comments are a little grouchy. Still a big fan though.

He's right. The horror genre has been total sh_t since the early 90s and only got worse when "Scream" came out. And then soon all these over-the-top eye sores were released. Now we've two types: the safe, watered down PG-13 bullsh_t and movies like "Hostel" where they try too hard with the blood, guts and gore.
Hey, I'm a gorehound and grew up with all the 80s classics while watching those from the decades before, but today's horror movies can't compare. They're out of hand. They lack plot, intrigue, character development, and the people who make these movies hire no-talent pretty boys and model hacks who can't act worth a sh_t. And just the way they talk makes me wish them all slow, agonizing deaths.
I like some of the "Saw" movies but I'll always prefer the classics as well as the independently released movies that are superior to what Hollywood sh_ts out.
This is when I hear, "Oh, but they make a lot of money!" One thing people need to get out of their heads is quantity does NOT mean quality, and all the money in the world isn't going to give these movies true worth and value.
