Being scared OF your parents is NOT a good thing. Being scared BECAUSE OF your parents is something else entirely. IMHO, parents who restrict the environment too much in TV for their kids bring up VERY NERVOUS kids. I think it is absolutely fine for kids to see a little spookiness and some horror, if they are enjoying it to an extent, and not living and breathing it, or having nightmares. Adult presence/supervision for the youngest and checking up on older kids during spooky movies is important.
