Wow, truer words never spoken about all the singers you name. I particularly, though, want to state about Adam (no last name really necessary, he is on the way to becoming a "one-name" star) - he has the BEST passagio, or transition from chest voice to head voice or falsetto of any "pop/rock" singer I have ever heard. While at the (very loud, but wonderful) San Diego Adam (oops, Idol) concert, sitting in my front-row seat (an experience I will treasure), I couldn't help but sing along - and Adam matches this classically-trained soprano pitch for pitch... and those notes were HIGH (didn't realize HOW high til I did it in my own voice)
Magnificent technique -
But, that doesn't even address the rest of the star quality - charisma, emotional expression, body moves, and just plain flat-out mega-watt sex appeal.
Star for sure - no modifications or improvements needed. This is a man who will always sound even BETTER live than recorded (unlike some others, whom I will not mention, but who have been major disappointments in live shows).
Thanks, again!
