24The concept of 'jumping the shark' is a fatal one for many involved in television. It all began in the tragic episode of 'Happy Days' in which iconic character, The Fonz

"Now ridiculous storylines and backtracking character plots have the series barely treading water trying to stay afloat in their own convoluted narrative."
You could say the same exact thing about LOST, but 700% more people will argue with you over it.

Squints, you read my mind. I had sections on both 'Lost' and 'American Idol', and decided to instead give those people some empty hope.

Except the House/Cuddy "sex" wasn't even real. How did they break the sexual tension? The same can be said for Bones. The problem I have is the exact opposite. This whole dancing around each other thing gets tiring rather quickly. I'm actually hoping they do it and get it over with, but knowing the producers, it is probably going to be an ongoing theme until the end of the series.

D. Holton, it was a pacifier for the viewers who are pro House/Cuddy. This narrative patch has been used for years, as it keeps both non-shiper and shipper fans satisfied. Adding a health concern (the reason behind House's fictional affair with Cuddy) is a way for creators to try to breathe life into a series. This is typically not a good sign. As I mentioned previously, it is quite literally in the writers' handbook that lead characters cannot satisfy their desires for each other until it is absolutely necessary. I agree, that usually this tends to frustrate viewers, but that is the point- it keeps you coming back.

Grim, every once in awhile you have to use a, somewhat unethical, pass in media writing. I took it with 'Nip/Tuck'. Well, not really the show as a whole, but the recent guest star, Katee Sackoff. True, and I will completely admit, 'Nip/Tuck' did, without a doubt, jump the shark. Good catch, and thanks for keeping me honest.
