It was very brave of her, considering the fact that she or either of her other two siblings have ever spoken out in public. She was surrounded, and strongly supported, by loved ones, otherwise, I don't think she could have done it. I commend her family on stage for being there for her. The fact is, it is devastating for anyone to lose a loved one.
