I find it funny how we can pick and choose who we want the city to cover security costs how come we had to pay security costs for mayday for those illegals protesting for their rights that they don't have we should of loaded them on a bus and shipped them back to mexico michael has contributed alot to society

I know that any funeral service I have had for family members, I had to pay for police escorts. Why should this funeral be any different?
The Jackson family could have had a private service and only a private service, but chose not to.

They ARE having a private FAMILY service......this is a memorial service for the fans(MJ's body will not be there)
There are going to be thousands of people there, I think it is resonable to ask them to cover the security cost.They must be paying for the space , I would have thought that would have been figured into the cost anyway.

Sorry to defer with the common thought, but I am appalled that the city would ask the family to pay for security. Do you have any idea how much money the city is going to make off of this tragedy?? A million people are going to have to eat, drink, buy gas, sleep somewhere, not to mention the t-shirts, cds, coffee cups and all the other crap with Mr. Jackson's image plastered on it. NOT to mention the unfortunate number that will be arrested for all sorts of various offenses and be required to post bail. IF the city wants to pay the estate a percentage of their profits, I suppose it would be acceptable.

Well I disagree, we pick and choose who we want to pay to help out with security.The respectful thing to do was to ask the Jackson family in private to help out,not vant what you think they should do in public.The city is going to make lots of money off of this memorial. Did they ask other families to help foot the bill in the past that were famous? If the city is going to profit from this big time,it wont hurt them to foot the bill.

I don't care who he was, there should not be any memorial put on like a circus freak show. The police have better things to do than run around watching peopld crying over Michael Jackson. and to spend $25,000 for a casket to go into the ground is insane.

The Los Angeles Officals are just plain stupid. Telling people to stay at home and pay their respect in person to someone like Michael Jackson. To assume things can become chaos is just their way of saying don't show honor. If this was some like madonna it wouldn't be problem. I say to all that have the money attend and pay the officals no mind.

The state of California is currently in the midst of a $41 BILLION deficit. They can't even afford to pay their state workers regular salaries; yet they are supposed to come up with the major mega bucks required to cover the security? Think about that for a moment! How would you feel if you weren't getting paid and have bills to cover? Not everyone lets their debts slide and can live off of their name.
