Transformers: Revenge of the FallenPosing this question is damning because I critique films and other productions, but it is relevant. This past week, after the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Public Enemies,

Reviewers should serve their audience, but they certainly shot not curve based on popularity/possible earnings. The 5-stars you review an art house film on should be the same 5 stars you rate Transformers on.
An interesting trend, in video gaming at least, is the addition of a "casual gamer" reviewer. These reviewers have a background in journalism, but have not spent decades playing video games like their peers. Thus, they offer an entirely different review on the experience. Perhaps movie reviews should begin tot do the same: A regular movie review, and a side review in the same column by the "everyman."

I've seen both of these movies. Transformers was, again, superb! Public enemies was good and Depp and Bales performances were as always, outstanding. However, I was really disapointed that Public Enemies didn't touch base more on how Dillinger and his cohorts spent time in the St. Paul suburbs (White Bear Lake, Dellwood, Etc.) being protected by the St. Paul police (they were payed off). This was a santuary of theirs.

What you say is true. I never go
by a critic's opinions. I found
out that what they like or dislike, quite often, is totally
different from what I think about movies, etc.

Of course, Film Critics matter. My friends value my insight. I'm only a part-time movie critic, but I enjoy the power that my pen wields when jotting down unfair comments about chick flicks.

Film critics do not matter when I decide to watch a film. I make that call myself by the trailer of the movies. I have not guide me wrong. They remind me of the weather forecast.
