One of the great things about Vampire literature is the flexibility. Each writer can approach it with a fresh angle. It is a genre with ample wiggle room. They can be beautiful day walkers like in Blade, Twilight and Moonlight. Or they can be a disturbing wolf pack like in Thirty Days of Night. There is something for everyone and I like it all. I'll take the pretty and the creepy. And prior to Anne Rice there was a Soap Opera called Dark Shadows that had a romantic vampire named Barnabas Collins. That show was on in the 60s. It's one of my early childhood memories.

If you ever want to check one out I'd say to try Lost Boys. Jason Patric, Keifer Sutherland....it's really pretty dang good

Okay Anne Rice is like the best vampire novelist ever so blaming modern stupid vampires on her is pointless. It's the twilight X@@##! that ruins them. Anne Rice is awesome! And vampires are supposed to be kind of seductive, thats how they get their victims. So, yeah, not really seeing your point here. I don't agree at all.
