I dont even know who half of these are, but i think one of the most shocking for me has to be that Marvin Gaye was shot by his own dad! thats just terrible, but the most famous death out of all of these has to be Michael Jackson, its the only one ive been alive through.

Where are The Notorious B.I.G., aka "Biggie Smalls" and Run DMC's Jam Master-J on this list? And how about Billie Holiday? What about Rick James and Roger Troutman? And David Ruffin? And did you forget about Barry White? His death was a complete shock! Think about it...

I wonder if people realize that Cobain, Hendrix and Joplin all died at the age of 27. That's spooky b/c they were all not only freakishly talented, they were "unique" talents that would never be duplicated.

blackprince206, I have two retorts to your comments. The first regarding The Notorious B.I.G., aka "Biggie Smalls," and the others you mentioned all have merit on this list, but they did not have that broad - based appeal and/or recognition of which the shock and sadness of their untimely demise was so immediately realized to the listening public. Secondly, yes, some of us are aware that Cobain, Joplin, Hendrix, Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, the late Hole bassist Krista Pfaff, Robert Johnson, et cetera, have formed an ad hoc club called in popular parlance "27 Club" or "The Forever 27 Club." This "club" was a group of musicians who met their eternal end at the ripe age of twenty seven years.

Although Michael Jackson had numerous unfounded accusations thrown at him during his short life. Why cant they just leave him in peace now instead of dragging all the videos out about these accusations. His children deserve better. Think of them and forget all that unfounded videos etc

All of these deaths are untimely and tragic. I think that I will always feel that the world would be a better place with John Lennon in it. He died when I was 7 years old and that is my first memory of death to a celebrity... And of course watching my Mom mourn the loss of Peter Frampton and Andy Gibb. How sad!
