I knew the moment I saw Adam he was something sent by God. No Kidding. Adam is a game changer, a game winner and someone with talent that is out of this world. American Idol was like sleeping beauty and he kissed it and woke it up. We didn't know what we were missing! It must be how everyone felt when Elvis came out on stage shaking his hips and the Ed Sullivan show would only show his top half. Adam is the Elvis of our time. It ticks me off that show producers keep spoon feeding us "middle america" crap. We don't want that! Give us something new, fresh, risky, fun, surprising, and GOOD. Adam is hot!

Adam did change the game and I can only know that because he, single-handedly, sucked me into a show that I otherwise feel is ridiculous and way past its prime (like 7 seasons past...). That said, I deep in my heart knew Adam wouldn't win -- and who knows exactly why: the show is rigged?... middle America is "rigged", meaning so used to vanilla and mashed potatoes that this hunk of meat didn't taste good to them...? we as a culture don't like abiguity?... etc., etc... But, the thing I really want to know, if someone can make it more concrete for all of us, is WHY this guy was able to dig deep into our psychies and turn us, turn me into a 40-something Idol-addicted fool for 4+ months? Clearly, his appeal is visceral (I do think it starts with his amazing voice) and while not universal it is certainly global. Really. I was so wound up that I even did a spreadsheet of his stats from iTunes v. Kris, and well.... at a minimum Adam consistently generated 2X and usually 3X= the votes (5 star), reviews, and overall enthusiasm., Aggregated, Adam's generated a response that exceeded, by a vast margin, the stats of established huge pop stars! That in and of itself is pretty amazing and should tell us something -- but what, exactly...? And why??? Anyway. Like your blog entry. If you want my spreadsheet, let me know. It's kind of fabulous in its own, quirky way. :-)

As a followup and to add to David's stats, it says something doesn't it when you google Adam he gets close to 18 million hits while Kris Allen gets about 7 or 8? Personally, I think Adam got the majority of votes, but they wanted to release him from his contract so he could get started asap. He's not cut out for that lame AI and Disney commercial stuff. Adam clearly won because EVERYONE I know loved Adam and thought Kris was forgettable.

Becky you got it! We LOVE ADAM LAMBERT, and his losing to Kris Allen shows what a sham Idol truly is. My family will not be watching next year because NO ONE will ever match up to Adam! I will be looking for Adams new CD!

Even on the Idol website, Adam had 7,000 fans signed up while Kris had 463 during the show. So how did Kris wind up with more votes? Adam's offical website currently has 99,000 posts already!

America chose Adam, Arkansas chose Kris. How can AI allow the biggest talent they ever produced place second because of cheating? That is what will destroy the show. Why vote if one state can steal the vote and AI allows the votes to stand? I will never watch the show again.

People (like me) who have never cyber-stalked anyone yearn for more Adam news? Why, because he's a true entertainer? The Slezak interview (5 parts) on Entertainment Weekly shows that Adam is the real deal--smart and articulate as well as a true performer? Listened to the iTune of Feeling Good--amazing. Listen to his rendition of Is Anybody Listening? Not only did Adam entertain on stage each week, but most of his recorded versions are different "takes" on the song. Adam can adjust to the medium. My daughter and I have tickets to an AI concert this summer (she's 30 and I'm..uh..older). I haven't been to a concert since Tina Turner and Glenn Frye! I cringe at the thought of Adam-wannabes trying out next season. In fact, I don't watch the public humiliation part--in fact, this is the first season Idol (read--Adam) hooked me. Let's support his CD to the max--after all he wants to buy a house (per Slezak interview). Really subversive, eh?

The Idol backlash is now in full force! You are right that there will never likely be another Adam, because he is one of a kind really. But what is going to kill Idol this year is the fact the wrong guy won! American Idol and FOX have turned a blind eye to the fact text-voting lessons and other support from AT & T for Kris Allen were blatantly a conflict of interest, and who knows how many votes Allen got from this ridiculous attempt to help Kris Allen fans text-vote as many votes as possible for their contestant. Idol has not released any details of the total vote count and who got what percentage. Really, I'm shocked Idol allowed Adam to get as far as he did - runner-up. But that was his power: The public loved him and what he stood for so much that they voted him to the top, he got widespread media exposure unprecedented for a contestant ever, and Simon boldly declared they had found a World Idol. And who gets the title: Kris Allen. Really, a singing competition is what it should be, and in that case, there is no question that Allan was perfection personified. Check out Adam's fansite (adamofficial.com), blogs, everywhere - everyone's aware of the Idol scam and are fed up. While I would love to see talents like Adam get their chance to shine in the public eye, really there's no point putting them on that stage unless it's an even playing field. One voice, one vote is what it should be. Instead, the Idol voting scam has turned the reality show into a SCAM. GO ADAM!

Great article. Here is what I posted somewhere else:
Questions from others on AI: Should I wear the green plad shirt or just a t-shirt?
New jeans or the ones with the tear in the knee?
Should the piano be facing left or right?
Could I start out sitting and then stand up?
Could I get some new tennis shoes to wear?
Should I sit on a stool or a chair for a disco song?
Do these pants make me look fat? (sorry, that wasn't asked)
Adam's questions: Is there a limit on my clothing budget?
Could I get clearance on Zep song?
Do the colors on the lighted steps be changed?
Can I get real flames or perhaps a video of flames?
Yes, Adam took the show to a new level. It wasn't just about the voice. It was about a complete performance, each staged as his own one song rock concert. The beauty is, AI let him run with anything he wanted. What a treat this season was. I will notattend the AI tour as I don't need to see boring group numbers and the other "also-rans". I anxiously await Adam's tour. I also hope that on his album he does a song with Queen, one with Kiss, a duet with Allison, etc., plus some Adam originals.

American Idol has taken a lot of the things that were "cool" when I was growing up (80s; and I'm sure this has happened to the 70s and 90s generations) and turned them into total cheese for the sake of getting a few mediocre singers signed to record contracts that they'll ultimately get dropped from within 2-5 years after doing the show.
Exceptions: Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson (though I think Kelly has a great voice but her music sucks; and Carrie has made some country tolerable for me)

Maybe if AK wouldn't have cheated, AI would have survived at least another year, but now why bother watching or voting if the best singer/artist isn't chosen because one isn't into texting thousands of times like a lunatic just to cast a vote.

As Paula said in her own wacky way, "Adam, You Are IT!" Someone above wrote, "America chose Adam. Arkansas chose Kris." How true. Adam is a superstar and Rolling Stone got it right when they wrote that Adam singlehandedly saved American Idol, Season 8. Since the chances that they will find another Adam for '09 are zero, I'd say AI is circling the drain.

Kris Allen will always be know as the one who shouldn't have won. It is ridiculous really. Kris is a limited singer, has limited range and is a dime a dozen. He is so boring to listen to in interviews, has no star power. Yep he is the common boy next door. Really nice guy. But winning over Adam Lambert? That was it for me. AI jumped the shark. Done. Adam had more talent and star potential in his pinky than all of the 10 ten combined.

I completely agree with you. I actually was awestruck from his "Satisfaction" performance as well. Each week Lambert switched it up and gave the audience what we wanted. He was a true entertainer and alot of viewers love him or hate him wanted to see his next move or next song choice. This guy was the best to ever trylu grace that AI stage really. After this travesty with the results from AI I for one will never watch and be sucked into that show again really. People may have a short memory span, but they will never forget the feeling in their stomaches when Adam had lost after knowing he had such a huge international fan base voting. After the shock wore down we all realize Adam will become the star we want to see without this AI title, but I agree AI has lost alot of it's older fan base. They will remember come January. Adam will rise above this and the Glamberts will sit back and watch him hit stardom and support him. He is a completely unique artist with a god given talent to vocally make a huge mark in the music business. We love Him!

I was addicted to Adam from the first moment he graced the Idol stage....I couldn't wait each week to see what he was going to do next....his talent is undefinable...and while I was completely enraged that he didn't win (not because he needed to, because his talent already makes him one that no one can compete with), but because the voting politics were unfair and the true winner was not the official winner....
I love your article, and I couldn't agree more...Adam redefined the standards for Idol, and I doubt next season is going to be able to match the magic that Adam brought...as for Adam, the music industry is about to officially be taken by storm, and I can't wait to buy his music and see him in concert!

loved the artricle, loved all the positive comments, and love adam. ai needs to have a major wake-up call, we don't really want to hear boring back stories, just hear and watch talent. and this at&t junk should've have been more seriously addressed. ryan clearly states that the texting is free to "at&t subscribers". handing out phones and letting non-subsribers power text is in clear violation of their rules. adam would've never accepting the crown afterwards but ai needs to admit to grave errors. i hope they have a huge decrease in viewers next year so they learn their lesson.
lovin' adam always.

Excellent article. How can AI improve on perfection (Adam),it can't so I am done with it as well. We have purchased a huge block of tickets for the Idol tour and the reason is soley to see Adam. While Kris is a very nice guy I feel kind of sorry for him having to follow Adam on stage. The international fans will get their chance now, and the CD sales will tell the truth and Adam will sky rocket to the stratosphere. I certainly don't think the one AKvoter who texted 10000 votes is going to buy 10000 CD's of Kris's. As for AI - it should be ashamed, it is so obvious there is something to hide, why won't they show the votes? Doesn't matter now, Adam is on his way to international stardom and AK will not support it's winner for that long, it is a false victory and AI has turned into a false show.

Everyone talked about him. I am in the love him camp. I doubt I'll watch AI again. After Adam Lambert it will be too painful to watch the usual bunch of vanilla, plain, boring contestants they throw our way. What's interesting is Kara kept knocking him through Hollywood week. Show how much she knows. She kept going on and on about the usual boring contestants. That's my main complaint about the show all they push is the dull as dishwater contestants. Yep, Adam ruined American Idol. How do you top that?

I started watching Adam Lambert after the eerie Ring of Fire. Although it was bizarre and other-worldly, I had little doubt that there was ANYONE else in the competition who had the vocal skills and courage to even attempt such a performance. As if that wasn't awesome enough, I was completely hooked by the sexually charged "Satisfaction". The debate will endlessly rage about why or why not Adam did not "receive" enough votes to win. I must point out that a lot of people aren't on the internet - they are just watching TV and calling a number. I suspect some of them were 1)also Danny Gokey supporters 2)people who voted for the "underdog" 3)people who actually only listen to C&W music. 4)people who voted "against" Adam Lambert, not necessarily "for" someone else, and 5)people who did honestly prefer Kris Allen, who has a more mainstream appeal. The truth about the voting is shrouded in mystery, but another truth is that Adam Lambert made the show this season far more interesting than it has ever been, and right now I, like others, am totally uninterested in who is to follow. Mainstream = mediocrity + predictability, i.e., boring.

I was astounded when Adam appeared on the American Idol stage and placed a permanent grin on my face -- one that I haven't worn since I first saw Tom Jones several decades ago. Not surprisingly, I am a 67-year-old grandmother and not easily swayed by the "next best thing". But Adam is so real that I can't seem to remove this grin -- nor do I want to! I was truly shocked when my 46-year-old rocker son asked me to play Adam's first rendition of Mad World over again (I had recorded it on to a DVD) and later told me he could hardly wait to see him in concert! He also made the comment that you know a performance is great when it goes by so fast! Of course, Simon Cowell paid the ultimate compliment to Adam by giving him an almost unheard of standing ovation! Considering what I have been privileged to watch in Adam's outstanding performances over the past few months -- as well as viewing videos of his other live performances on the internet -- I firmly believe that this incredibly talented and gifted young man will be a blazing star for an insanely long period of time and indeed will be a World Idol!

I do think Adam has put the nails in the AI coffin. It's a sad thing, because the same venue he's killing is the one which gave rise to his stardom! I had never watched AI until last year, and never voted until this year at the final, when I did the old dial up thingfor r 4 hours straight, and was only able to get in 20 votes. I decided then I would never vote again. MY Adam obsession grew, and I decided I wouldn't watch the show anymore, because they won't have another Adam. I have downloaded all Adam's performances and his studio versions and, have paid big bucks for floor seats to take my 30 year old daughter and myself to Charlotte to the concert ,just to see Adam. Last night I watched all of Adam's performances on AI, complete with judge's comments, and I was amazed all over again! I had not taped these shows, not knowing how into this I was going to get, and over and over again Adam bowled the judges over. They knew they were seeing history made; they know music and knew how unusual his wide range and always on pitch voice is. Of course they were gushing--even Simon, and there's not a one of those judges now that would not be thrilled to sing with, dance with, write for, manage, or produce Adam right now. I do believe part of Adam's defeat was due to a backlash vote because of the praise of the judges. What were they to do? They had to be honest. I feel sorry for AI, for Kris, and the judges. Rest in peace, AI!

Fantastic article, totally nailed Adam's amazing appeal! I've watched American Idol since it first began and finally this season found my true "Idol". I knew right from the start this season that Adam had something very unique - his own incredible sound, his own way of taking a song we've heard before and making it something we want to hear again. The way he set the whole scene - using the stage, the props (oooh, those stairs!) and the mood lighting; all of it was nothing short of spectacular. He has spoiled me for anyone else. I've never sat in anticipation on Tuesday nights before, anxiously awaiting what amazing performance he was going to offer us this week. Each week so different; each week so fantastic. And then; that moment in the finale when he stood all glammed up in front of America and sang "Beth" - I thought I'd died and gone to entertainment heaven! Just so dang brilliant. I'm even going to suffer through the Idol Tour (first time ever) JUST to see Adam sing live - and I get to do that in his home town of San Diego; how awesome?? Can't wait for his record, can't wait for his solo tour. The fact that the most talented contestant in Idol history came in 2nd shows what a truly appalling joke the Idol voting system is. If the producers do not re-vamp it NOW, they've lost me as a viewer forever. And even if I do choose to watch the show again, I can already hear myself: "Well, he/she's ok, but Adam was way way better."

Absolutely the best write up and synopsis of how Adam affected AI that I have read yet. I agree 100% that this year, Adam WAS American Idol.
Now that we have found/discoverd Adam, as far as I am concerned, there is NO reason to ever watch the show again. Finally, this year, there was a real contestant - real as in not-cookie-cutter and I loved it. I too was galvanized each week and even though I saved the show to my DVR, I still sat and watched it live first because I couldn't wait to see Adam, Adam, Adam - and besides Adam, there was only Allison who came even close.
I had not watched American Idol in years and was so mesmerized the first time I turned it on and saw Adam that I was glued throuhout the rest of the season.
When he didn't win, I realized that when they let number 2 "win" they double their marketing machine and have two winners - and that our votes didn't count. So for me, I am buying anything and everything Adam Lambert does going forward, but never watching or voting on AI again.
Long live Adam Lambert - King of, well, everything!

Adam is so different and exciting, I could not wait for Tuesday nights to hear what he was going to do, what he would wear, and even how his hair, make-up (yes,,make up) would look. I'm a gonner, but only because there has been no one with this much talent and charisma since Elvis, and I am old enough to remember, and it does not look like Adam will have some of the issues that made Elvis's life so tragic in the end... and from all reports, he is a nice, sweet guy to boot, what more can we ask for.

This guy is incredible! The vocals, the song choices, the stage lighting and setting (from what I have read is all him), the clothes (again him) how the heck do you top that! I have not seen anyone, much less someone from American Idol exude so much sexuality when performing a song. Can you say Ring of Fire?

totally agree with this article. AI exposed itself as a sham this season by failing to deliver on its fundamental premise -- that it is a singing contest. because adam's talent was/is so blatantly superior to other contestants, its highlighted the extent to which the show is just a corporate sponsored, money machine/voting contest. adam compelled me to watch every week -- and i do believe if they do not make some serious changes all bets r off for next season. i for one, despite what i knew the show to be, am still so turned off by the outcome that i may not b able to bring myself to watch it again. . . (hope i'll be able to find lots of new adam videos to watch instead.)

From 70 and dancing...
Thanks to all the Glamberts who comment. I read them every night, all over the web, and go between laughing and crying to hear so many people expressing the same feelings I have when I experience Adam's
productions. At 70, I find this young man inspiring.I,too, have never cyber-stalked, written back to anyone who had an unkind word to say about him, bought all his songs and videos,...and play them every night as I work on my own business(after I freshen my black nail polish.) He fills my heart...and I wonder what it was like when at 3 he memorized the storybooks and performed them in different voices, or at ten when he started singing in plays...and what did he feel when others thought he was weird...and how all of that experience helped him be the man he is today. Can you imagine the joy he has felt when he could create those incredible performaces on AI? The costumes, the lighting, the sets, the musicians? I,too, am thankful for this well-written article...Adam needs that energy and ours to bolster him through the naysayers to come...
And while AI may go by the wayside, or not, I will be forever grateful the night I turned on the TV looking for news and found Adam. After that Tuesday and Wednesdays were sacrosanct. And don't you know there are young folks around the world who gain courage from Adam...to believe in themselves...to dare.
Back to work but first, I have to run through the videos one more time...and brush on the 2nd coatof polish. Thanks

American Idol is either thankful for Adam Lambert or rueing the day he auditioned.
I say this because Adam Lambert single-handily re-energized this dinosaur. With declining ratings, they needed this artist to come along and shake things up. He brought originality, brought back some of the original energy, the excitement among the voters, the media buzz, the fans and the celebrities alike taking an interest in the show. It was on the verge of jumping the shark, and he brought it back to relevance.
Saying this, how will they ever find another Adam? How will they ever have another season like Season 8?
Can they get talented singers to audition? After what happened at the Finale? One thing for sure, any singer going forward and any fan who is willing to vote for hours will remember the voting scandal of 2009. Whether they are a believer in the voting fix or they take the 'we just voted more than you, get over it' point of view, it will always be there.
In order for American Idol to keep up the momentum and have credibility, they need to fix the voting to a fair system of one vote for one phone, similar to other shows such as Dancing with the Stars.
That's the only way they'll get me back for Season 9. Then to keep me, they need to come up with at least one talented artist willing to be original and take chances week after week in the caliber of Adam Lambert.

Becky, thank you for the great article on Adam. When I heard Adam sing a snippet of "Bohemian Rhapsody" for his audition and I saw his energy leaving the building and waving his golden ticket to Hollywood, I knew America was in for a special treat. Adam generated so much energy and excitement for his adoring fans and made AI fun to watch. I will not be watching AI ever again after the voting scandal was uncovered, denied and then admitted (but to a lower scale than originally reported). AT&T and AI have proven their lack of integrity and I will not support either of them again. Adam is MY American Idol and I love everything about him. He sure made this 54 year old woman fall in love with him. Kudos to his parents, they must be so proud of him!

Becky, this is one of the BEST articles written about Adam! Finally someone gets it, they understand!
He is so talented and absolutely hypnotizes and mesmerizes you with his performances. I love being pulled into his world and just being swallowed into the vortex. Never want to leave it, because it is such a happy place.
Without Adam, AI will NEVER be the same. It can't, because although there may be other talented people out there that are undiscovered, a STAR only comes along once every two or three decades. I've been waiting for Adam for what seems like forever!

I just wanted to add that I am a 54 year old woman who feels like I'm back in my 20's, and is absolutely in love with Adam!
He really has done something to so many of us and I would think his family and friends are as proud as can be of him. His dream is coming true and I wish him nothing but happiness.
ADAM ROCKS MY WORLD!

This reminds me of grading on a bell curve - eliminate the top and bottom scores and rank the middle of the curve. It also happens in "hiring". I can't help but wonder if AI did what a lot of employers do - go for someone who will come in at the 75th percentile so they can mould the person to be what they want to shape them to be. Adam seems to have come into the AI competition with substantial on stage experience, and all around producer /director experience - knowledge of lighting, sound, arranging music, etc. He unintentially "threw off the curve". Kris meets the profile of AI better perhaps - but with that said - since I own both his Best Hits and Adams, and compiled one of my other Idol favourites from this season ( Love! Alison, for ex.) - I've played Kris's once and Adams several times a day consistently. Better song choices and technically he's just a stronger performer. Even his version of the cliche "No Boundaries" is growing on me. I want Kris to make it, too - I hope his first album is more of the "Ain't no sunshine" type - that was great. Will Adam bring down AI - maybe he will graciously come back and consult for the show - help pick more original artists? AI does need an overhaul and more "integrity" - Textgate is a big mess!(and 'no more judges writing songs for finalists, please - let the artist pick their own song choices, please!)

I channel surfed and came to a screeching-breath holding halt at Adam signing. When I realized he was on AI-I thought, "NO way"! But I was hooked! Adam gets under your skin and every song thereafter was mind blowing. I have downloaded his AI songs and videos and cannot get enough of this guy. I would love to see him perform live but my husband gave me a look that said, "Now you are scaring me" when I mentioned "Let's get AI tickets to see Adam!" So, we agreed to get tickets when Adam goes solo- can't sit thru the Top 10 just to see Adam & Allison--it would be painful to listen to them. I'd love to see the duet-"Slow Ride" live. Maybe Adam will take Allison on his solo concert tour. They are adorable together.
AI is bland except to teens and supposedly, it was even starting to bore them. Adam shook it up and brought in viewers who would never consider watching so many untalented singers. The AI formula is unwatchable for most people who are really into good music and performances. It's a tween scene which is Ok because they are people too. I muted all of the them except Adam and Allison.
But it's well established now that Adam Lambert has the big "IT" that grabs you and won't let go. He is exciting to watch and that voice is one of a kind. He also handles himself with such grace in public.
I believe we are seeing a new kind of Star here, he is talented, gracious, unique, confident, and positive.
AI will never be the same after Adam.

I walked around in stunned disbelief when Adam lost. He caught me when he performed Satisfaction during Group of 36. After the loss I then ate up everything"Adam" that I could find on the internet and came across some great pre-idol stuff when he was in theatre and I discovered a song called "The Prayer" that he sings as a duet with Noa Dori in 2005 Check it ou on YouTube. It will truly blow you away and answer the question as to who was the best singer EVER to come out of AI. The man is astounding. I cannot get enough of that song and it isn't even rock or a ballad. It is a prayer.
Adam is going to be named Young Hollywood Artist of the Year on Sunday, June 7, 2009. It is an honour bestowed upon himin the 11th annual presentation put on by Hollywood Life Magazine. Check it out on their website. Taylor Swift is a previous winner. It is huge and I am so proud of Adam. In fact all of us Glamberites are.

Oh Please. This guy is not the end all to be all of the music industry. He wouldn't even have been able to be on AI if it had not been for Bice, Daughtrey and Cook breaking ground for everyone after them. This guy is not the savior of music. There are a lot better singers out there that have an emotional connection to the music and put on a hell of a show without all the OTT theatrics.

Thanks again for your comments everyone.
Just wanted to respond to cookieforlife. Just to clarify, I wasn't suggesting that Adam is the savior of the entire music industry. Just the savior (and destroyer) of AI, specifically. But he IS different from most of what we're hearing on the the radio today. (I don't even listen to the radio anymore because of how homogenized everything has become.)He definitely has a cross-genre appeal.
I liked David Cook and he was definitely deserving of his win last year. But it seems like Idol's definition of a "rocker" is anyone who kind of sounds like Daughtry. They historically don't like anything that's too "out there." And I was pretty disappointed with Cook's album because it falls into that Daughtry-esque category. But that's just my opinion.
The point is, for AI, guys like Bo Bice and David Cook are certainly talented and fun to watch, but they're not really anything THAT different or that unexpected. Whether he's your cup of tea or not (and he's obviously not), Adam Lambert was like no other contestant they've ever had on the show, and there aren't a lot of guys like him on the scene right now, period.
People who live in the more, let's say "progressive" areas of the country, like NYC or LA, aren't shocked by Adam. Like I said in the article, there are probably a lot of underground club kids who could give him a run for his money. But seeing someone like him on AI had us all thinking, "Yeah, it's about time!"

Thank you for writing it. I had the biggest let down weeks after Idol was over this season. It was as if I was having Adam Lambert withdrawals. It was the best and most exciting AI season ever and I keep wondering if it will ever be as good to me. Download all his songs from American Idol and listen to them, and tell me that isn't a voice straight from heaven. He doesn't need theatrics, but I am grateful he uses them when he performs. Becky, point by point you hit the nail on the head. I thank you so much for bringing this out. I asked myself early on the same question of what will happen to AI after ADAM thrilled AI like no one has ever done before. And I mean thrilled not only with his astounding explosion of talents but also with his drop dead gorgeous looks, charisma, magnetism, sex appeal and those sexy moves. And the endearing humility and graciousness to top it all.
ADAM captured me from Bohemian Rhapsody & Hollywood week’s Some Kind of Wonderful and confirmed it with Satisfaction. I knew this AI8 is going to be The ADAM LAMBERT Show when he completely owned the AI stage with MJ”s Black or White which stunned me. I never imagined anyone could sing that MJ's song and get away with it. Not only he killed it, he owned it and I could forget it was ever MJ's in the first place when I watched it over and over everyday. Then following it up with that shocking sexy Ring of Fire, OMG! No one has electrified AI audience before. And the rest is AI history which will NEVER be repeated.
If all of America is not ready for this high voltage electrifying consummate performer and entertainer, the world is ready to embrace everything and anything about ADAM.
ADAM has arrived. ADAM has landed. ADAM has conquered the world.
With ADAM, you couldn't ask for anything more. ADAM is the World’s Idol, the next legend in this generation. At the very least, we should be thankful to AI for witnessing the birth of a SUPERSTAR!

Did Adam change AI? Indeed, he changed the show a million%. Who is kidding who here? We all know AI was falling apart since season 5. They have been trying to keep the show alive and up-beat. It got so cliche every year, with those repeating songs every year, as if they're told that they'd be dead if they go out of the box... And there comes season 8, they changed stuff to make the show better, like introducing a new judge, which costed us viewers and Adam Lambert time (Mad world, the show ran out of time and he was judged only by one judge, simon cowell, thank god it was Simon!), wild card and the save (wasted save, who on earth saves Matt G?...craziest decision ever. If it wasn't for those cougars (Kara and Paula), Simon wouldn't have used it on Matt)....Yata Yata Yata...anyways, they tried their best to make the show current but they failed. But Adam freaking Lambert, the Rock God, saved their butts... Seriously, if it wasn't for him, noone would have tuned in to watch the show. All the people I know were rushing home to see Adam, they are all like, oh Adam's show is on tonight, don;t miss it. And we all'd call each other and talk about his performance, what a show he puts! To come to the point, Adam saved Idol's butt. And I don't think people will tune in next season after this unfair result that the world wittnessed. Shame on all of you who voted against Adam. As for Adam, he is destinied for Super-stardom. Long live Glambert!

Before Adam, I had only the most casual interest in AI. I had leads in musicals when I was young, so I related to the audition aspect, but my tastes are classical and Celtic. A child of the 60s, I was indifferent to most rock and pop. Adam turned my musical world upside down, from his first audition (with his anime hair, gorgeous voice and sweet humility) to his insanely seductive Mad World in the fog (Simon, how could you not get what he was doing with that?! I was on the floor!) I voted for him 1460 times the final night - all fingers, no computer. Stupid voting system, but we were stuck with it. My sister (an AI fan) voted 300 times. My boyfriend (who had never watched before that night) logged 200. And then, the next night, watching Adam perform Beth (so beautiful, so tender) and LOSING! And losing with such generosity and grace.... In the end, it won't matter. It might kill AI, but it hasn't touched Adam. I, the rock hater, have downloaded a KISS video. I have learned to use iTunes. I have bought every AI studio performance, every video, and have tickets for the AI tour. As for my Celtic tastes, Adam has fulfilled even those with his performance of Come to Me, Bend to Me from Brigadoon, the most achingly lovely tenor solo ever recorded. His sustained top notes are so pure and effortless they stop the heart. And he does it with an impeccable Scottish accent! Adam is not only the Destroyer of American Idol, he is the Destroyer of Lyric Tenors.
