Sarah-
As an owner of both the PS3 and a Sony Blu-ray player, I can honestly say that as far as the old Disney classics go, a 35mm transfer to this format (or DVD for that matter) is fine and needs no cuts, you just get the black bars on the sides of the screen as if watching any non-HD cable channels, which is normal.
I bought the Pinocchio Blu-ray for my son back in March and I can honestly say that, oh yes, there's a huge difference and the cleanup they did on this is absolutely astonishing. I look forward to the same thing with Snow White.
The best thing about the Disney releases is that when you buy the Blu-ray copy you also get the DVD copy and a digital copy for your iPod/PSP/whatever. When you get it on a site like Amazon you're paying all of $5 more for the Blu-ray to get all of this, making it pretty much a no-brainer for anyone. Even those who don't have the BRD player yet and are considering it or eventually plan to get one, this is the way to go.
Unfortunately they didn't do this with Wall-E, so I ended up getting it on both formats, but they included a $10 rebate coupon if you bought the Blu-ray after getting the DVD. I was able to get my DVD copy for $10 at a local drug store with the purchase of some Coca Cola products, and I got the Blu-ray on Amazon for $19.99. So basically after the rebate I ended up only paying 20 bucks for both copies.
