I have to disagree with the choice of Tropic Thunder; I don't care if Downey got an Oscar nom. He should not have tried to impersonate a black man. It was insulting. I am white, but that doesn't matter. I am shocked that more black people did not speak up against this.

That's not bad. I prefer the list that I put together.
BEST: U.S. Marshals (1998), Richard III (1995), Chaplin (1992).
WORST: A Scanner Darkly (2006), Gothika (2003), Soapdish (1991).

I have seen about 35 or RDJ's films (own about 12 of them)and he does appear in a lot of dreadful movies. Zodiac, Gothica, One Night Stand, even Game 6 (as much as I love the Red Sox) were not great movies. The problem for the viewer is that one has to watch all of his films because without fail, in even the stinkiest of movies, RDJ's performance is magnificent. One spends hours watching some bad stuff just to see the brilliance of his work in minor roles.
I agree with you that Two Girls and A Guy is a bit tedious, but his soliloquey (which I understand is ad libbed to a great extent)(as is much of his work) is raw and true.
I agree with your winners in the best movies category, but there are a couple of gems that you missed. Remember Soapdish? How about Heart and Souls? The latter is one of my favorites. It was an incredible effort because he rendered performances of 5 different characters. He sang an operatic version of the Star Spangled Banner which was astonishing.
I don't understand why RDJ has made some of the movies he's made. Given the extent of bad movies post-Corcoran, it appears that he took what roles he could get until he got back into the mainstream and the leading roles he so richly deserved. I look forward to the next three in the immediate future - Solist, Sherlock, IM2 - and am grateful that he seems able to crank out so many movies in so little time that give such pleasure.

Did not Mr. Downey, Jr. play Mozart in AMADEUS? I think that was the best one. I loved TROPIC THUNDER. If you got to fight a war, it might as well be funny. Dorothy

I remember now. It wasn't AMADEUS; Mr. Downey, Jr. was in RESTORATION. I loved that movie. I think that was the best one. Dorothy
