Please.
I'll take J.J. Abrams stuff over Whedon's any day of the week.
You forgot to mention that the actors that Whedon casts, aka his "go to" team, are all horrible actors. And comparing them to actors Abrams doesn't use anymore is ridiculous. See if they stand up to anyone he currently has cast in any of his series. How about putting Glau, Dushku, Fillion or Baldwin up against Michael Emerson, Anna Torv, John Noble and Terry O'Quinn instead of a bunch of actors he probably hasn't talked to since 2003.
I'd put my money on Fringe outlasting Dollhouse by at least a 2-1 ratio. I'd be surprised if Dollhouse makes it into, or even past, season 2. It's decent, but the acting is just awful.

Listen, Abrams PRODUCED Lost. His actual work on it is limited and I'm tired of him getting all the credit for its excellence. He directed a few episodes, and yes he helped make it happen, but as far as the actual storytelling, writing, and season arcs, Abrams is NOT responsible for it. Whedon is the sole creator of his shows, the head writer, and he does not let other people do the main work and then take all the credit.
I'm a Whedon fan, and I like Abrams just fine. They really shouldn't be compared.

Yeah, I'll give you that Dee. I was basing my comments more on the shows they each created and now how they're run. Personally, nothing of Whedon's has ever remotely interested me except the recent Dollhouse; which is okay, however Eliza Dushku's acting skills remind me of Hayden Christensen's in Attack of the Clones ("shall I go now?) and Fran Kranz's are even worse. I've seen porn with better acting.
To me it's basically a show about a geek who can wipe out a hot chick's memory and (instead of taking advantage of that feat itself!) he has her go out and sleep with other guys for tons of money and to complete missions that usually involve shooting up a bunch of people and other stuff. It's "Mission: Impossible" with a high priced call girl in the role of Ethan Hunt.

@Agent Smith - I think it comes down to taste. I am not a fan of any of Abrams work, other than Lost, and as I said I don't think it counts as his work. I love every Joss Whedon show and the man is one of my heroes. So I'll admit I'm biased, but I do think it comes down to individual interests.
My problem with Abrams comes down to the fact that he's more of a figurehead. He writes and directs a few of his shows, but then he goes off to do other projects and has little to do with them anymore. Whedon's projects are his; he has a hand in them even when juggling several things at once, because they are his babies.
They're both very inventive men and have brought wonderful things to TV and movies alike. So while I prefer Whedon, I don't think necessarily one is better than the other. They both succeed in gaining loyal fans, and that's what matters. So I say good for them.

Oh but I totally agree Fringe will outlive Dollhouse. Dollhouse is the weakest of Whedon's work, I'm totally with you on that.

Hands down, Joss Whedon will win. I've been saying what Dee says for a long time... Abrams produces Lost. If anybody should get credit fopr Lost give it to Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, they are the showrunners, not Abrams. Which is why I don't understand why scifi fans are so eager to welcome a star trek by a guy who, well, doesn't really have a style. He does a few episodes fo a show, lets storylines drag out, and he likes to add a little Twilight Zone to the mix but that's it. When i'm watching a show (except for maybe a few early Dollhouse eps) I *know* it's a Whedon show. This is a man who has a mark, i'm not sure what Abram's mark.

Not going to lie, Joss will always win over everyone else for me. I do like JJ too though. Both of them always put out great stuff.
