Jimmy FallonWe are now a few weeks into the Jimmy Fallon era of late night network programming -- his absence this week was allegedly a planned vacation, not a result from his argument/possible fight at a New York City pizza restaurant

First! (I never wanted to say that.)
Ok, I watched the show like 2x, and never in full. His monologues are terrible (from what I have seen). This guy is just not funny. He's like this cutesy-acting little guy who as a nearly 30yr old male, I just don't want to see. And what was up with the "Carpet Wheel"? I can laugh at stupid X@@##! sometimes, but it just wasn't even entertaining and dragged on for too long. Really, the only reason I watched was to see the Roots (Mike, I have seen them about 7-8x live and they are amazing --- we should def go to a show).

Maybe Jimmy should open up his own pizza joint.

he never beats himself up, but it seems like fallon is doing his version of the chris farley show.

Stillwater would've been a great choice for the house band.
I've only watched a few times, but the show is fine. I couldn't stand him laughing at himself on SNL, but I don't mind it here. Makes him seem more real.

@Billy Chapel: The bits will get tighter as time goes on. I think he has good writers -- though "Lick it for $10 is pretty bad. Yes, I will have to see a full Roots concert.

@Sinbad: I would have loved a little Stillwater! Though, The Roots are awesome.

@grimoneus: Well, I wouldn't call it a interview, per se, but thanks!

The first few episodes I watched were brutal, but he's starting to grow on me. It seems like he has a great group of writers, so I can see him being successful as time goes by.

Phil McRae: I agree. Like I said in the piece, though: He needs to stay away from interviewing people he is too familiar with. Too many inside jokes.

I like Jimmy too -- and even though there are moments where I feel like there's the same type of awkwardness to the show that you had when you were 14 and it was the first time you tried talking to a girl you didn't know, but really liked.
I think you have some good feedback though. I'm sure once he settles in and gets a few more shows under his belt, it'll eventually feel like an old pair of shoes for him.
I give him a mulligan while he's still on the learning curve...

I feel a little weird saying this about an entertainment piece, but I found your article insightful. You make a good point about his interviews and I can definitely see that from the two half-episodes I've seen. His interviews are also a little awkward, too.

@raveille: That's probably fair
