Perry's plays are silly and sterotypical, however, the transition to the big screen helped those horrible plays dramatically. His movies are for the present market only.

If you've never seen Tyler Perry's films "Daddy's Little Girls", "A Family that Preys", or "Why Did I Get Married" you have yet to tap into the genious that is Tyler Perry. Obviously, if just one of his movies reached $90 million at the box office then "middle class, black Christians" as you say, are not the only people that he is targeting. He just chooses, very wisely I might add, to use black actors in many of the roles. Whereas most films have a "token" black person. His films make you laugh, make you cry, and make you think. At the end of the day people are people and he captures the essence of that reality. That's why I love his films and millions of other people love them as well. Also FYI, in "Madea's Family Reunion" the woman "locked in an abusive relationship with a successful, two-faced man" did not find love she found herself. Her sister found love "with a working class Christian with perfectly sculpted hair".
