As a youngster I had a major crush on Richard Harris. He aged badly, most likely due to his hard-partying ways. I read that some alcoholics will resort to anything with alcohol in it if they do not have access to regular booze. Mouthwash, vanilla extract, cooking wine, rubbing alcohol (ouch: memories of Kitty Dukakis), and (yes) perfume . . .

Ewww...Thank GOD I never had it like THIS. My son thinks I never had a problem because he never saw me drink but it is a big indication to make changes once you get a DUI. I am a lucky one who woke up before doing this--or having a car wreck. Maybe that makes me a less exciting SuperBowl date, but I don't let anyone dictate my choices so I put myself first here.

You guys are a riot. I am sure Harris WAS desperate when he drank the perfume. What amazes me is that he lived such a long life. Now my Dad was a hard-drinking, chain-smoking guy who loved fatty foods such as hot dogs and sausages. Knock on (tons of) wood, he is 91 years old and going strong! He still eats hot dogs, etc.
