I do not get the New Year's Eve thing with respect to It's A Wonderful Life. I even Googled it to check and the events definitely take place on Christmas Eve. Huh??? Of all the movies, it is my opinion the Love Actually was able to integrate Christmas without letting the celebrations overtake the wonderful plot-line. I hope no one makes any more Scrooge movies. Enough! Elf was very funny and I am not generally a Will Ferrell fan. James Cahn as the father was great casting. Kudos also to Bob Newhart as the Main Elf. I could never understand the premise of Home Alone. Parents forgetting to check to see if their son is with them? Ho, ho, ho . . . ?

The one I love every year is 'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs.

Not getting the New Year for It's a Wonderful Life, just watched it last night. They end the movie with Ald Lang..SP, whatever, but other than that, not sure why your coming up with the NY thing.

Yes, it must have been the singing of Auld Lang Syne at the end of the film. It was sung on Christmas Eve, however, so the critics who insist this a New Year's Eve film have to be mistaken.
