With the untimely death of Michael Crichton, now is the time to reflect on a career that, unfortunately, was wrought with too much of something that is usually a positive: intelligence. Indeed, Michael was too smart for the movie industry and its core audience.

The 13th Warrior is my favorite movie. I have no problems with the adaptation. The characters in the movie are more warm and cuddly than in the book. It's a wonderful adventure film featuring some wonderful performances. I think it is still the best adaptation I've seen of Beowulf. Dennis Storhoi was a real standout as Herger. I wish he would make more movies in English.

Westworld is awesome. I always liked the original Andromeda Strain movie. I've enjoyed most of Crichton's books. RIP.
