Sofia Vergara was literally put on a pedestal during Monday night's 66th Emmy Awards, and naturally the world is freakng out about it.

The "Modern Family" star took the stage to introduce Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Bruce Rosenblum to give the yearly speech on the state of the industry, or as many see it, to bore viewers for five minutes, and to keep people from nodding off during his rambling, he asked Vergara to step up onto a pedestal that was next to him. As she did, it began rotating, showing off the actress' sexy curves and most likely distracting millions of viewers from the obligatory coma-inducing lecture.

Some people have a problem with seeing a beautiful woman put on display like that, which was lighthearted and all in the name of humor, of course, saying the Academy objectified her and that the move was sexist.

Vergara herself has since spoken out and asked people to chill out about it, saying that she's even pinpointed where all the backlash started.

"I think its absolutely the opposite," She tells Entertainment Weekly. "It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself. I think it's ridiculous that somebody started this — I know who she was — who has no sense of humor [and should] lighten up a little bit."
