It's been a busy couple of weeks for MySpace/DGC recording artist Meiko: first she was featured alongside Jack Johnson and Sara Bareilles in a USA Today cover story about the "new wave of troubadours." Then she was given a spotlight of her own on the cover of the Los Angeles Times Calendar section. That was followed by stunning performances of lead single "Boys With Girlfriends" on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and the season premiere of "The Bonnie Hunt Show." Now she's featured in a special nationwide promotion with iTunes and Starbucks, in which she's one of a select group of artists highlighted on a free sampler card distributed throughout 2,100 Starbucks shops nationwide. In addition, Meiko's lead single, "Boys With Girlfriends," is available as a free download on through October 7th.

Next up is the Hotel Café tour, where Meiko will be performing alongside the likes of Ingrid Michaelson and Rachael Yamagata. The tour kicks off October 9th at the Soho in Santa Barbara.

Meiko is touring in support of her self-titled debut, which entered the iTunes Folk Album Chart at No. 1, and lead single "Boys With Girlfriends," which skyrocketed to the top spot on the iTunes Folk Singles Chart. She recently shot a video for the song with The Brothers Nee (A Fine Frenzy). Meiko's debut album, praised by the Washington Times for its "batch of catchy, acoustic-based tunes about love and heartache," includes songs like "Hawaii," which Spin hailed as a "Song You Need To Download Now," "Reasons to Love You", which was featured in an episode of the award-winning TV series Grey's Anatomy, and "Said And Done" which aired during episodes of One Tree Hill and The Closer.

In other news, Meiko recently recorded "Maybe Next Year (X-Mas Song)" which will be included on Hotel Café Presents Winter Songs, a compilation of both original recordings as well as classic holiday tracks sung by a lineup of female singer-songwriters such as Brandi Carlile, K.T. Tunstall and Fiona Apple. The star-studded album will be released through Epic Records on October 14, and a portion of proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
