Singer Mario Charged With Assault
R&B star Mario has been charged with second degree assault following his arrest on Friday for allegedly assaulting his mother at their Baltimore, Maryland home.
The "Let Me Love You" hitmaker was taken into custody after his mom, Shawntia Hardaway, told cops he was "throwing and damaging property" and had reportedly pushed her with his hands.
Hardaway, a former heroin addict, also alleged she had been involved in another violent altercation with the 24-year-old singer on Monday, in which she claims she feared for her life.
A police report detailing Monday's incident, obtained by TMZ.com, states Mario pushed his mum "eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall."
The singer, full name Mario Dewar Bennett, was released on $50,000 bond and he was subsequently charged with assault.
Mario's lawyer, William 'Hassan' Murphy III, admits the arrest occured after "an unfortunate incident" between a loving son and his mother, who has struggled to stay sober.
