R&B singer Bruno Mars is mourning the loss of his mother after she unexpectedly died on Saturday.

The Grammy-winning singer's mother, Bernadette Hernandez, died in a Hawaii hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm, according to a representative from Mars's record label Atlantic Records speaking on the condition of anonymity.

A hospital employee also confirmed the death, saying, "She died in Honolulu at Queens Medical Center; no other information was given."

Hernandez emigrated to Hawaii from the Philippines when she was a child and made a living as a hula dancer.

She is survived by her six children, sons Bruno (born Peter Gene Hernandez) and Eric and daughters Presley, Tahiti, Tiara and Jamie.
