Sharon Stone Felt 'Broken' After Custody Battle
Sharon Stone has opened up about the heartache she suffered after losing custody of her son, admitting she felt like a "broken" woman and prayed for help.
The Basic Instinct star and her now ex-husband Phil Bronstein adopted baby boy Roan in 2000, but they split three years later, and a judge ruled that Roan should remain primarily with his father, with Stone receiving visitation rights.
The actress admits the decision hit her hard and she struggled to contain her grief in public.
She tells AARP magazine, "I would go to these (philanthropic) events where I had to get onstage. I would be in the wings, with people looking at me, my head on the floor, praying: 'God, please help me. I know I have to go out there and raise money. But I've lost my child, I've lost my health, I've lost everything.' I was just broken."
Stone tells the publication that Roan travels to Los Angeles for monthly weekend visits with her, and adds, "You have to get over those emotions and be a good mother. My main concern is that I support him, love him, and am steady."
