Shailene Woodley is the latest star to drastically change her hairstyle. The "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" star chopped off her mane and donated it to charity.
Woodley plays a teenager named Hazel who fights cancer in upcoming film "The Fault in Our Stars." The actress documented her haircutting process on Twitter over the weekend.
She tweeted: "...and so it begins... #itgrowsback #hairforhazel" followed by "hair nubbins" and "work in progress... but luckily, #itgrowsback !!! :))" with an accompanying photo (above).
The #HairForHazel social media campaign asks fans to follow in Woodley's footsteps by cutting their hair and donating it. Woodley is championing the Children With Hair Loss campaign that provides kids with hair implants.
Woodley wrote about the experience on her Tumblr blog: "I know what it feels like to have wind blow through my wavy locks, and I am over-the-top grateful I get to share that gift with another. If you are in a place of absolutely loving your lengthy dreds, then go you and keep on growin' it out! On the other hand, if you are in the position to cut off 8 inches of your hair, then I strongly urge you to do it. There are so many human beings out there who would LOVE the opportunity to possess long hair, but simply can not because of their current situation... Let's share!"
Last year, former "American Idol" star Kellie Pickler shaved her head in support of her good friend, Summer Holt Miller, who had cancer.
And Beyonce simply wanted a change, so she recently chopped off her locks into a pixie cut.
