Let's face it: the movies aren't the only places that make sure their main characters are young, thin, and attractive. Even nerdy Peter Parker is a hottie behind his glasses, and every member of the Justice League in DC Comics looks like they could be a model as well as a hero. So put together the badass nature of comic book heroes with the sexiest actors of today, and what do you have? The sexiest super heroes in film! Who do you think should make the list?

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight)

Broody, obsessive, and intense, there's no doubting that Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman, is not someone you'd like as an enemy. As the World's Greatest Detective he is not just a physical brute but also an intelligent and ruthless opponent. He also happens to be very attractive, in case you ladies haven't noticed. As the fake Bruce Wayne he shows he can be suave, charming, charismatic, and just a little bit of a jerk, but it is the real man behind the mask that still loves his childhood sweetheart and misses his murdered parents. Brilliant, handsome, and maybe just a touch emo - who can resist that? Now there have been several Batmans before him, but it is Christian Bale who can go from a scary thin man in The Machinist to a jacked up superhero in just a few months. He's got the looks if not excellent anger management ability.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (X-Men series)

For every thinking man there is an action man, and that is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. He is all raw passion, energy, anger, and power. If there is one thing Wolverine has, it is animal magnetism, baby! In the movies we saw Jean Grey, Rogue, Mystique, and maybe even Storm flutter a bit at the thought of this snarling, hairy beast, and we honestly can't blame them. He has no idea about his past (no baggage!), and he has a tendency to go barreling into heroics without thinking twice. Careful, though, he had to kill his last love interest, so he might be a bit testy. It's a little weird to think that this vicious brawling mutant is played by an incredible Broadway singer/dancer, but that means he's sexy on several levels.

Angelina Jolie as Fox (Wanted)

As one of the sexiest women in the world, we were all waiting for Angelina Jolie to take on a superhero movie and do what she does best: look great and kick butt. Then she took on the role of super assassin Fox in "Wanted." Beautiful, dangerous, and pretty amazing behind the wheel of a car, Fox swept main character Wesley off his feet and taught him how to be a killer for the good of humanity. She also had a slight tender side, because when Wesley was faltering at his ex-girlfriend's screaming, she gave him a big kiss just to make him feel better. Lucky man! Although Fox's story ends tragically, this might not be the last time Jolie is seen in a comic book movie, since rumors are that she will appear in Sin City 2 - as another femme fatale with much more evil aspirations.

Rebecca Romijn as Mystique (X-Men)

Rebecca Romijn completely naked and painted blue isn't a good enough reason for you? Alright, there's much more to her character in "X-Men" than that. Mystique is a shapeshifter who works for villain Magneto, and although she can take on any form she wants, she is proud to be a mutant and enjoys her unique appearance. Although Mystique prefers stealth through her powers, she proved to be a remarkably talented fighter as well, taking on Wolverine in the first movie and several armed guards in the second. Gorgeous and generally mysterious, she makes having blue scales and golden eyes somehow very appealing. Just ask all the fans who try to replicate her costume now!

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (Iron Man)

Talk about a major comeback for Robert Downey last year, and a lot of that is due to his surprising hit turn as mechanic superhero Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man. The character is not as iconic or as well known to mainstream audiences, but now he is right up there with Superman and Spider-Man. Tony Stark is like the fake Bruce Wayne for real: handsome, suave, smooth, and facetiously apathetic. Yet underneath it is a genius with the ability to create power suits while kidnapped in a foreign country and using a battery stuck in his chest to keep him alive. That takes some guts! It is Tony's fall from grace that makes him appeal so much to us; he goes from a war profiteer to a super hero, and we're with him all the way. It probably has a lot to do with Downey Jr.'s natural charm and bright, appealing smile. We don't blame Pepper Potts for being drawn to him despite knowing much, much better!

Charlize Theron as Mary Embrey (Hancock)

"Hancock" may have gotten mixed reviews, but Charlize Theron turned out to be quite the hot tamale when she shed her 'normal human' act and started kicking Will Smith around. While a lot of people did not like that twist (they lived for centuries and are husband and wife...what?), it is hard not to like this lovely actress who surprised us by being quite the superhero. She didn't exactly use her powers for good, but heck, we could watch her throw Hancock into city buildings for a few hours if it got a smile out of her. This is mostly due to Theron's star power rather than the otherwise devoid of personality Mary. Between this movie and "Aeon Flux," Theron proved she could be a believable badass … she just needs a better role. Are you listening, Hollywood writers?
